Stacking the Shelves #211 Sunday Post #208 Sunday Salon #202

Hey, my bookish friends!!  How are you all doing? This week was hard! I am on day 13 of a vertigo flare-up. I tried to get into my doctor's office for it this week and I was told to go to the emergency room. I was so frustrated (and yes I cried)! Thankfully my sister is a PA and asked if we had a Vestibular clinic here. I had no idea what that was but they specialize in vertigo and balance issues. I was able to get them on the phone and they said I had to get a hearing test and then they could get me in. I got a hearing test that same day (Tuesday) and saw the specialist on Friday. Basically it can be several things, the most likely culprit is a crystal (stone) in the ear that is in the wrong place, and in my case in the back of the ear canal, so I have to see a physical therapist for some exercises to see if that is indeed the case. If not, the next step will be a neurologist. I go for PT on Thursday and I am hoping that will be able to figure out the problem. I am thankful that I have been in functioning vertigo and not debilitating vertigo most of the week.

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your  shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. The Stacking the Shelves meme is hosted at Reading Reality.

Other updates:

I finished four books this week and DNF'd two. I am excited about my library treasures this week and my book mail, and not just because I haven't had any books out from the library in over a month (reading my own books)! I read my first Megan Walker book last week and I couldn't wait to read more, and now I can. I am trying not to start any new series (impossible), but her books are all stand alone, so I can read them in-between other books. Some Bright Someday is the 2nd of a series. I listened to the first one on audio last month and this one and the third one are sadly not available as audio, so I had to wait for this one to come in. My library doesn't have the third book, but I can get it on Kindle unlimited. So last week I mentioned an Instagram Post  about a lady who feeds her family on $300 a month (they are a family of 4, but her kiddos are still young)! So that was my inspiration for these cookbooks.

What you might have missed on the blog this week:

Book Review: Claire Holloway is Winging It by Angela Ruth Strong

Top Ten Tuesday: C is for Cool books or something like that

Book Review: Counterfeit Truth by Crystal Caudill

Book Review: No More Boring Bible Study by Faith Womack

Reread: Pixels and Paint by Kristi Ann Hunter

PT has worked for me for many issues, so I hope it helps resolve your vertigo. Good luck with it.

    1. Sara, we are not vegan, but I do have a lot of food allergies/intolerances, so we do try to eat more plant based dishes.

  6. I had never heard of a vestibular clinic either, but that is good to know. I'm glad you were able to get in and see someone for the vertigo this past week and that your sister pointed you in the right direction. I hope you get relief from it with physical therapy. Hope you have a good-feeling week! :)

  12. Ooof, sympathies on the vertigo. I get BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo) sometimes, and am very glad my mother's a doctor and taught me to do the Epley maneouvre to settle things -- it usually works in a couple of tries for me, thankfully. I hope you find something that helps soon!

  18. That sounds awful Cindy! I hope you can get some relief soon. I actually was just looking at a therapy place near us that offers vestibular therapy! I was researching a different type of therapy for Wyatt but I noticed that they also offered that.

    2. Thanks Anne, it has been so frustrating, but I also learned a long time ago we have to be advocates for our own health. No one knows our bodies as well as we do, nor does anyone cares as much as we do!

  20. Oh Cindy how awful! I hope they can correct this soon. I couldn’t read when I had vertigo but I’m glad it doesn’t affect you. Try and have a good week.

  23. So sorry to your vertigo. My husband had it a few years ago and his doc told him about an exercise, the video was on youtube and it helped him so much.

    1. Hena, with where it is at, they do not want me to try that exercise, it could make it worse. PT will work with me so I don't do something wrong.

  24. Vertigo is the worst! I so hope that the cause is an ear stone that PT can put back in its proper place.

  25. So sorry to hear about your health troubles of late. I don't know very much about vertigo, but read quite a bit of information after I read your post and - YIKES!! Hopefully you have an answer for the cause soon, friend.

    1. Thanks Sarah, it's certainly not easy! Today is more of a struggle than other days, it's such an odd thing. The PT guy said it could be migraine related as well, and after today, I believe him. I have had such a bad headache, so the vertigo has been around all day. So odd how things can affect the body.
