My Review:
Sometimes I watch Faith Womack's videos on YouTube and find her teachings interesting. When I saw she had a book, No More Boring Bible Study, I was curious and decided I had to read it.
The Bible as a whole can be summarized as the story of God redeeming his people for his glory.
While the title of the book is unique and eye-catching, the content is not unique. I have read other books with similar content (Women of the Word by Jen Wilkin and The Easy Bible Study Method by Ashley Armijo). However, the focus of this book "understanding Creation, the Fall, Redemption, and Consummation, we can see the full storyline of the Bible" is different.
A good exegesis of the Bible will not lead us farther into our self-centeredness but rather inspire us to worship.
Womack's book is an easy read but with an educational bent, if that makes sense. I felt like I was sitting in a class, having a lot of information explained to me. The target audience would be those who are new to studying their Bibles (not just reading them) and want more background on the genres and such that are in the Bible. I am not the target audience for this book, but I can see the value in it, and I was a little disappointed. I expected/wanted more. I also wish the books she recommended were listed at the end of the book, instead of just in the footnotes. Overall, a solid book with valuable information. It is well researched and is a valuable companion for a Bible study beginner.
