Walk With Me

Walk with Me: Simple Principles for Everyday Disciplemaking

Title: Walk With Me: Simple Principles for Everyday Disciplemaking

Author: Bill Mowry

Publisher: Moody Publishers

Genre: Christian Nonfiction/Christian Living

My Review:

I loved this book. It immediately draws the reader in with "an invitation." The author discusses how the Bible frequently uses the word "walk" when describing our relationship with God. The premise behind the book is quite simple, start walking. Once you start walking you can invite others to join you on your walk.

"Disciplemaking starts when we intentionally invite people to walk with us."

I loved the author's conversational style. I enjoyed the stories that related to the points he was making. I appreciated the quotes from other authors that were shared throughout the book. Walk With Me is  well-researched and grounded in faith. The principles are practical and something that we can all do. There were so many great points and thoughts to consider. I highly recommend the reader to have a print copy for easy reference when you want to go back and look at certain sections again.

"In fact, our Lord seems to delight in using "little" people, ordinary, live-next-door, regular kind of people."

I only found one error in this book. The author stated that "The Navigators Wheel" is in chapter 3, but it is in chapter two. Other than this minor error there was nothing that I disliked about this book.

"Did you know that the average age of someone experiencing a religious conversion is 15.6?"

I believe this book is very timely and needed. For those of us who call ourselves Christ-followers, we need to start walking and making disciples. This book is a must-have resource that will explain in an easy-to-understand manner exactly how we are to do that. I am thankful that I have a print copy for easy reference.

Thank you to Moody Publishers for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a favorable review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Synopsis:

Have we over complicated, over systematized, and over formalized making disciples?

When our hearts are changed by Christ, it’s natural that we should want to help others come to know Him too. And while Scripture clearly sets forth how to do so, modern Western society has formalized, professionalized, and systemized disciplemaking to a point that it seems too complicated to practice. What happened to the simple, heart-to-heart ministries of the New Testament?

In Walk with Me, you’ll return to the essential biblical practices that help people grow as Christ-followers in simple, slow, and deep ways. Learn how you can connect with your neighbors, coworkers, or anyone you want to reach with the gospel in ways that are relational and Spirit-led. You’ll learn five kingdom principles that will reshape how you can pass on the faith:

In heart-to-heart ways
By keeping it simple
By going slow
By building deep
By living on mission
