Top Ten Tuesday-Reasons Why I Love Reading

Welcome back to Top Ten Tuesday! Today's topic is "Why I Love Reading." While I thought I was going to be creative and add books with this post, I simply do not have time today! My dog got neutered today and is very needy/clingy.

  1.  It's an escape. For as long as I can remember I have loved reading, but it probably started in second grade. You can read a post about that here. When life got too hard I would just pick up a book so I could disappear for a while.
  2.  I love learning new things. I read a lot of fiction, but I also read a healthy dose of non-fiction. I am constantly wanting to better myself and learn more. I have read tons of books on parenting, Christianity, Homeschooling, blogging etc.
  3. It's quiet. Can I get an amen? Sometimes the noise of the world just gets to you, or you don't want to talk to anyone, and reading is a quiet activity.
  4. It's a way to pass the time. I will read a book while waiting in line, waiting on my groceries, waiting in a doctor's office. It is so much more productive than scrolling online.
  5. It's company. I hate eating alone. When no one is around I will read my book while eating and then I am not really alone, 😂
  6. It's free. All you need is a library card and you have access to thousands of books.
  7. A new adventure every time. No two books are exactly the same and I love that!
  8. The new book smell. Seriously, love the smell!
  9. So much to choose from. If I read a book a day I would still never have an opportunity to read all the great books out there! There is such a wide variety across so many genres!
  10. It sparks creativity. Some books give you something to think about. Other books stay with you long after the last page has been turned.
  11. It makes me happy. Books definitely bring out the emotions. Sometimes we are yelling at the characters, other times we are laughing, and sometimes we cry. Some books made us do all of that and those are the greatest.

  1. I always read when I eat alone, too! I'm kind of a slob, though, so it's not always a good idea for me to mix books and food, LOL.

    Happy TTT!

    1. The book is a safe distance away, LOL. My kids read while eating too ;) Dinner is not for reading as it is the only meal we get as a family, so that's when we chat.

  8. Books certainly are a form of escape in the way of I love reading my favorite genre which tends to be happy, light reads that make me smile. That's really all I require from a book. :) Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland last week, Cindy.
