Happy Friday! I hope you are having a great day and looking forward to a relaxing weekend! I know I am 😀 Welcome back to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books!! To join in the fun grab the book you are reading and leave a comment with the first line. This week I am sharing from The Amish Baby Finds a Home by Barbara Cameron. I love Amish fiction. This one is set to release on August 25, 2021.
Gideon Troyer unlocked the door to Gideon's Toy Shop and stepped inside.
I will also be linking up with Gilion on Rose City Reader for Book Beginnings. This is where you share the beginning of the book that you are reading.
Book Beginnings:
Gideon Troyer unlocked the door to Gideon's Toy Shop and stepped inside.
His heart always beat a little faster when he entered his shop and looked at all the shelves of wooden toys. His Englisch customers-especially the older ones-sometimes teared up when they picked up a car or truck or knelt and looked into the windows of a dollhouse. More than once, people told him that his toys reminded them of the ones they'd received and played with as children...times when kids played with real, quality toys.
About the book (from Goodreads):
In this heartwarming
Amish romance, an Amish toymaker and his sweetheart discover the
greatest gifts come in the smallest packages.
Between his busy
toy shop and the farm he owns with his twin brother, Gideon Troyer’s
life is full. Now, the handsome Amish woodworker is ready to share it
with someone special, someone like Hannah Stoltzfus, the lovely quilt
shop owner a few doors down. Their friendship has already grown into
something deeper. But before Gideon can tell Hannah how he really feels,
she makes an unexpected discovery in his shop: a baby . . . one who
shares an unmistakable Troyer family resemblance.
Hannah has
never forgotten the kindness and support Gideon offered when she first
opened her shop. So she’s happy to help him care for the sweet abandoned
boppli until they find his family. But as they untangle the mystery
surrounding the child, Hannah wonders at Gideon’s hesitation to take
their relationship to the next level. He’s a natural with the baby, and
Hannah can see Gideon’s ready for a familye of his own . . . but can she
help him believe it?
Have you read The Amish Baby Finds a Home? What did you think? Are you a fan of Amish fiction?
Your turn! Grab the current book you are reading and post the first line in the comments! Then, do the Book Beginnings and join the fun there too!

My sister and I always swap notes, she loves Amish fiction as well. I also really love when they are unique or suspense :)
DeleteThis sounds good. I haven't read any Amish fiction. This week I am spotlighting a book from deep in my TBR pile - More Than Fiends by Maureen Child. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI used to read them all the time, then they seemed to be alike, but I have circled back around and I am enjoying them again :)
DeleteMy first line comes from Crossed Lines by Jennifer Delamere:

Mitchell B. Harris, better known to readers of the Era as Our London Correspondent, leaned casually on the desk of John Munson, toying with his cane while Munson chuckled over what he was reading.
Hey Paula, sounds like an interesting read. I will be looking for your review when you finish it :) Happy reading!
DeleteI don't read much Amish fiction, but this one sounds really good. And I love that cover. Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a wonderful weekend! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Ashley, it is interesting, not going quite how I expected, which I guess is good. I keep wondering what is going to happen. I am planning to chill this weekend, I have a sinus infection and don't feel good. The doctor told me to rest which means I have a great excuse to just read and not do anything else this weekend :)
DeleteWhat a sweet first few lines. My Friday quotes from the Tattooist of Auschwitz
