MY REVIEW:
The absentminded professor. You're such a stereotype, Neil!
Oh Neil! He is so protective of the toddler that he finds in his yard that you can't help but be drawn to him immediately. All his protective instincts kick in, ones he probably didn't even realize he had. Maggie enters the scene and he is immediately suspicious of her relationship with Oliver and blasts Maggie for losing him.
Some of the best blessings we ever get are on the other side of what we're most scared of.
Not all things are as they seem and much is lost at the beginning of the story. However, as the story progresses much is found as well.
I have a heart for foster children and this book was written with a lot of heart and soul. The emotion tangibly rolled off the pages. From sweet Oliver who is unsure of his new "mommy" to Maggie wanting to do everything in her power to get him to bond with her. Ruby, with her fount of information, and love and care of everyone, especially the hardest of all cases. Even Neil, not being sure what he has walked into, but with hurts of his own, he fits and understands better than most. There are some really tender moments in the story and they literally brought tears to my eyes.
There were a lot of great characters in this story and I can't wait to read more about them. This is the first book that I have read by Laurel Blount and I look forward to reading more by her. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a sweet, faith-filled love story, with great depth, that doesn't discredit the hard moments, but understands we have to get through them to move on. There was nothing to dislike in this story, it was incredibly well done.
