Top Ten Tuesday-Bookish pet peeves

Happy Tuesday, friends! The theme for today's top ten Tuesday is bookish pet peeves. I am not sure if I can come up with 10, but I imagine the more I think about it the more I will find 😂 To find out what our other bookish friends are doing for Top Ten Tuesday check out That Artsy Reader Girl.

1. Accents-I don't mind the initial accent in a book to show it is there, but when the whole book is written (or in an audio book read) in an accent it gets on my nerves.

2. Lots of grammar/editing mistakes.

3. A character that is constantly down on themselves.

4. Stickers on the cover of the book!

5. Lots and lots of history/explanations and descriptive matter and little dialogue. Dialogue is what keeps me engaged in a book.

6. Cuss words in Christian books.

7. Constant miscommunications between characters. Some miscommunication is expected but when it is constant, I am like, seriously?!

8. Overused words or phrases.

9. Not having enough money to buy all the books I want 😂

10. Not having enough time to read all the books I want too 😂😂

What are your biggest book pet peeves? Or, your take on this week's topic?? I look forward to seeing what everyone is saying this week.

    1. LOL, I think 9 & 10 are true for all readers! I couldn't think of any more "real" pet peeves...until I started looking at other people's lists, LOL, then they come flooding back.

  2. I don't like lots of accents either. It slows me down and makes the book so hard to read. #10 is definitely me too! :) I always want more time for reading.

    1. They slow me down too. I had to stop listening to an audio book recently because it was just too much.

  3. I've gotten pretty good at removing sales stickers off of books, it's random talent I have. But those "stickers" that are printed on the books, especially the "now a NetFLIX Show!" Oof, I hate those. Honorable mention pet peeve.

    1. Yes, I agree, the printed ones are bad too. I used to know how to get stickers off without leaving the sticky "goo" but I can't remember anymore! Glad you have the talent.

  4. I so relate to those last two on your list. I wish I had all the time and money to read the books I want. And I agree about miscommunication being a huge pet peeve! Great list. :)

    1. Yes...maybe some day we'll be rich and retired and have all the time...seriously though, I really can't complain I do have a good amount of time to read and I am learning to maximize book reading with audio books when I am running errands, doing chores, and exercising ;)

  6. I'm not a fan of miscommunication, especially when it feels artificially done to complicate the relationships. I always figure if someone would speak up or clarify in real life they should be in the book too lol.

    And stickers- nooooo

  9. Books (or characters) written in dialect can get annoying, in audiobooks it bothers me less.

    1. Hi Lauren, I guess I should explain, I do LOVE some accents in audio books, like Australian or southern or something like that...but when it is written and read as if the people are uneducated, especially in a newer book, it gets on my nerves.

  10. It's so frustrating when grammar and editing mistakes detract from an otherwise good book! :)

  11. Definitely agree with #10! I have so many books I want to read each month, but I run out of time before I get to most of them.

    1. Girl, me too! I have been behind for months. I am intentionally trying to clear the deck so there is not much in November/December.

  12. YES! I can relate on not having enough time. Although I do think plenty of that is my own fault since I just don't make the time (meaning I binge too many TV shows or the like). Thanks so much for visiting Finding Wonderland on this week!
