Can't Wait Wednesday-High-Wire Heartbreak

Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings, to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet to read. Typically they are books that have not been released yet. This week I am sharing High-Wire Heartbreak by Anna Schmidt. It is book 6 in the Doors to the Past series, where each book features a dual-timeline period romantic suspense story set against a historic American landmark. They all stand alone and do not need to be read in order. As I was writing this post I realized it published 1.1.22, but since I have not been able to get my hands on it, I can't wait to read it 😉 I have really enjoyed the other books I have read from this series and have high expectations for this one!

About the book (from Goodreads):

In 1936--A party at the Ringling mansion Ca d’Zan in Sarasota, Florida, leads to a robbery--and possibly death.

A successful historical mystery writer, Chloe Whitfield comes to Ca’ d’Zan to research her next novel. Chloe’s fascination with the circus is rooted in family stories of her great-grandmother Lucinda Conroy, who reportedly was a trapeze artist of some renown. She’s heard hints of scandal—and perhaps larceny, but no details.

Chloe’s grandmother—rumored to be Lucinda’s only offspring—was raised in an orphanage and never knew her mother. Intrigued as she is, Chloe has no intent of writing about Lucinda until she sees a poster featuring Lucinda as the star performer for a 70th birthday gala for John Ringling in May of 1936. From there the trail goes cold.

Who was Lucinda and what happened to her?

What book are you eagerly anticipating? If you would like to join in the Can't wait Wednesday fun just click on the image below to be taken to today's post. Happy reading!

Side note: I am also signing up to participate in a read-a-thon on Sunday! I am not a huge football fan and I don't really need an excuse to read, but this sounds like the perfect way to spend a Sunday afternoon and evening. Thank you to Jinjer at The Intrepid Arkansawyer for sharing!!! Jenn's Bookshelf is the host of the read-a-thon, you can click on the image below if you are interested in more details 😀 Let me know if you decide to join in 😀

  6. I've never seen this book before so thanks for Spotlighting it, I just put it on my TBR list! I saw the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus when I was a kid and loved it. I live near Sarasota now and have been planning on visiting the Ca' d'Zan - Ringling Museum. In case you don't know, the circus is supposed to come back in 2023, but without any animals.
