First Line Friday #38-A Time To Love

Happy Friday, my bookish friends! Any plans for the weekend? I was diagnosed with bronchitis yesterday and told to take a long weekend to rest and recover.  A perfect excuse to read, blog, and rest for the entire weekend. No complaints here. Welcome back to First Line Friday hosted by Carrie at Reading is My SuperPower!! I am also linking up with Gilion on Rose City Reader for Book Beginnings. This is where you share the beginning of the book that you are reading. This week I am reading A Time to Love by Barbara Cameron.

Jenny woke from a half-doze as the SUV slowed to approach a four-way stop.

Book Beginnings:

Jenny woke from a half-doze as the SUV slowed to approach a four-way stop.

"No!" she cried. "Don't stop!"

"I have to stop."

"No!" she yelled as she lunged to grab at the steering wheel.

David smacked her hands away with one hand and steered with the other. The vehicle swerved and horns blared as he fought to stop. "We're in the States!" he shouted. "Stop it!"

About the book (from Goodreads):

War correspondent Jennie King thinks she's just a temporary guest in her grandmother's Amish community while she recuperates from the devastating injuries sustained in a car bomb attack that changed her world. But when she meets Matthew Bontrager, the man she had a crush on as a teenager, she wonders if God has a new plan for her. Jennie has emotional and physical scars and though she feels she has come home to this man and this place, she's not sure she can bridge the difference between their worlds.

Your turn! Grab the current book you are reading and post the first line in the comments! Then, click on the icons below and join the fun there too! Thank you all for coming by each week, I REALLY appreciate the support and comments 😀

  7. I hope you are feeling better soon, Cindy. I have trouble reading when I am sick personally and envy those who can manage it (not the sickness part, of course!). That opening is quite an attention grabber! Take care of yourself and get lots of rest this weekend!
