Stacking the Shelves #18, Sunday Post #15, Sunday Salon #10

Hey bookish friends! How are things going for you? We just got back from a quick trip to West Virginia. Thursday was my son's 17th birthday so we took him to see his favorite comedian, Tim Hawkins, perform. (I will put a picture of him in this post, if you have never seen him or heard of him, look him up, he is so funny!) We had a blast but my body is demanding recovery (I have an Oura fitness ring that tells me when my body is stressed and I have  been at my lowest "readiness" level for a few days, so it tells me to rest and recover). Today my son is having a few friends over, followed by the family birthday party. What are your plans for the weekend?

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. The Stacking the Shelves meme is hosted at Reading Reality.

I added 16 books to my Goodreads shelf this week.

I only finished 2 books this week. I can't remember the last time I had such a low week. I will finish another one sometime today.

My daughter and her friend drove from Mount Vernon, OH to Parkersburg, WV to help celebrate my son's birthday, and enjoy Tim Hawkins with us. You can see one of Tim's bits here, if interested.

I am also linking up with the Sunday Post. The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. I will also be joining Deb at Readerbuzz for the Sunday Salon.

What books have you added to your physical or virtual bookshelves? I would love to hear from you. Click on the icons below to join in on the fun. Have a great weekend!

  1. Sounds like you had a great week!

Those books look interesting. I'm trying not to add too many books to my Goodreads. I just have such a large TBR pile it's ridiculous 🤣😂

Hope you have a good weekend.

    1. Emily, I hear you...but what happens you hear of a great book? Aren't you afraid you will miss out, LOL? That is my fear...I hear of an excellent book and then I will never read it because I didn't put it on my list...not like I don't have 500+ options to choose from, LOL!!!!

  2. I'm glad you got to spend time with your son on his birthday. The comedian is new-to-me, so I will definitely check him out when I get an opportunity.

You really came home with a lot of great books from the used bookstore.

  3. Such a fun time celebrating your son's birthday! A thoughtful gift to drive to a a favorite performer's show. I had to laugh that you are busy in a town away from home, but you stop and buy books at a used bookstore (a favorite destination of mine!) I don't blame you; I would have also.

  4. Tim Hawkins is so funny! My boys used to love his bits. Sounds like a memorable outing for your son's birthday.

I have wanted to read that Camy Tang series and the Agatha Christie companion looks great.

Hope you get some rest this weekend!

    1. Gretchen, I agree, Tim Hawkins is so funny! It was a great time for his birthday. I happened upon the Camy Tang series and was only going to buy the first book, but I knew I had never seen them anywhere else, so figured I had better go ahead and get them. Have a great rest of the weekend!

  7. Finishing two books with everything else going on sounds good to me. Heck, that's what I read in a typical week.

I haven't heard Tim Hawkins in years. Hope you enjoyed the trip.

  8. Seems like a great, but tiring week indeed! I also can't resist a second hand book shop. The Agatha Christie companion is one I would love to have as well!

Have a good week and I hope there is more time for reading and resting this week.

    1. The sweatshirts are based on one of Tim Hawkins bits, they say "Village people," "Rocky," and "Touchdown." You can watch it here if interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TK2_ezOBa2A

  10. Sounds like a fun birthday for your son! It's been ages since I've been to a used bookshop (I read exclusively on ereader now) but the last time I was at one, I spent hours and was extremely reluctant to leave. It's such a fun place to explore. Hope you have a great week! :)

  11. Happy 17th Birthday to your son! I was looking at the Oura ring-do you like it ? Have a great week!

    1. Thank you! I do like it, it is much more accurate than the fitness watch I had. It holds the charge for 3-4 days, which is pretty good.

  12. Sounds like so much fun for your son! He'll have awesome memories of that experience. I still remember my parents taking me to see Michael Crawford in concert for my 18th birthday and that was 25 years ago.

I'll have to lookin into this Oura ring. I've never heard of it. I think it would be nice to have something that tells me how I'm doing in that sense. I have a hard time know what I need.

I hope you have a great week!

    1. Jenni-I really like the Oura ring, it is much more accurate than my fitness watch was. It tracks my sleep, my activity level, and my "readiness" level. If you are not reaching your fitness goals it will lower them to make them more attainable, and as I learned a few days again it recommends rest when you need it.
