My Review:
Lysa Terkeurst is a great Bible Teacher. I have read several of her books. I appreciate her writing style, putting Scripture first and then citing other examples to explain her point. I'll Start Again Monday is not a diet book, it is a journey.
“I’m not on a diet. I’m on a journey with Jesus to learn the fine art of self-discipline for the purpose of holiness.”
I'll Start Again Monday is the story of Lysa Terkeurst's journey to get healthier and the tips that worked for her. She talks about how God made us to crave Him, but we try to fill that void with other things.
"Simply telling me to eat healthier foods that will help me feel full longer doesn't address the heart of the matter. I can feel full after a meal and still crave chocolate pie for dessert. Just feeling full isn't the answer to sticking with a healthy eating plan."
I'll Start Again Monday is a quick read full of wisdom and encouragement to find a healthy eating plan that works for you. We are all made differently, and Terkeurst isn't trying to fit us into the same mold.
★★★★/5
Synopsis (Goodreads):
The missing companion for healthy eating plans that have left you feeling defeated
So
often we characterize our food cravings as bad, especially when dieting
has made us feel even more disappointed and defeated. But the reality
is we were made to crave. We just need to realize God created us to
crave more of Him instead of misplacing that craving by
overindulging in physical pleasures and unhealthy choices that will
never truly satisfy. In the midst of her own personal struggle with
this, New York Times bestselling author Lysa TerKeurst invites us
into a new perspective of permanent change to get out of the same old
pattern of losing weight but then gaining it back.
In this newly revised and condensed version of Made to Crave, Lysa shows you how to:
• Break the cycle of "I'll start again Monday" and start taking steps toward consistency that lasts.
• Stop agonizing over numbers on the scale and make peace with your body.
• Replace rationalizations that lead to failure with wisdom that leads to victory.
• Reach your healthy goals and grow closer to God through the process.
