The Story People

Title: The Story People

Author: Heather Kaufman

Publisher: Concordia Publishing House

Genre: Christian Fiction, Books about Books, Contemporary Romance

Source: Library

My Review:

The Story People is the first book I have read by Heather Kaufman. It's always hard to know what to expect when you read an author for the first time.

The Story People is a slow moving story. It is more plot driven than character driven. If you have been following my reviews for a while, you know I prefer the story to be more character driven.

I enjoyed the bookstore as the main setting for the story. I also enjoyed how the community loved Ben and the bookstore.

Things that hindered my enjoyment of the story: long internal monologues, miscommunication, assumptions, and a slow plot.

Overall, it was an okay story, but just not for me.

★★★/5

Synopsis (Goodreads):

Bookstore owner Benjamin Palermo is ready to turn the page to the next chapter of his life, and every lady in town is eager to help by finding him a suitable wife! The subtle humor and gentle inspiration of The Story People will encourage readers to savor life's little snippets of joy.
