My Review:
A Match for Emma is the third and final book in the Mitchell's Crossroads series. I highly recommend reading them in order.
"The only person who can give you what you need most is the one who can love you forever and always."
Emma is the youngest of the Mitchell siblings and has enjoyed having a hand in setting up two of her siblings. However, when it comes to matching herself, she is not interested. She has her culinary dream, and dating can wait.
But eye candy and heart candy were two different things-one sweetened the moment while the other sweetened forever.
When her best friend, Jon, moves back to Ransom, Emma is ecstatic. She enjoys spending time with him. He is a true friend and he warns her that her matchmaking scheme is going to backfire. In true Emma fashion, she does not listen.
People didn't fall in love with their best friends.
So, true confessions, I did not like Jane Austen's Emma, she got on my last nerve. Each chapter has a quote from Emma, which turns out to be perfect for that chapter. While Emma has some of the characteristics of Austen's Emma, she is much more lovable and well-meaning.
"There's nothing shameful about doing exactly what you were made to do, son."

Synopsis (Amazon):
Emma Mitchell may enjoy sprinkling romance into
the lives of others, but her own plans involve a single first-class
ticket to culinary school in Europe.
When her best friend, Jon
Noble, suddenly moves back to Ransom, Emma’s fairly certain her life
can’t get any better…until her matchmaking schemes nosedive, her
culinary future falls flat, and a life-long friendship begins to teeter
on the brink of something unexpected.
With a little inspiration
from Jane Austen’s classic and a touch of Blue Ridge charm, will Jon
and Emma discover that what they need the most may be the last thing
they’re trying to find?
This does sound like another cute one. :D I like that there are quotes from Austen's Emma at the top of each chapter; what I also appreciated about Emma is how she put her father's comfort above her own. Plus, I thought the book was funny. Can't wait to check out this entire Pepper Basham series. :D
ReplyDeleteLark, I know, I am in a league of my own without being an Austen fan, but I think I was just introduced to her too late.
