My Review:

I love Bibles, and today, I am talking about The Message Women's Devotional Bible. The Message is one of the paraphrased versions of the Bible, it comes across as more blunt than some other versions.

I want to be clear that I am not reviewing the Bible; I am reviewing the features of this particular Bible.

The cover of the Bible is terracotta colored and a nice imitation leather. The terracotta color continues within the Bible, with pretty designs and outlining the character profiles. This Bible is lightweight and easy to use. It is exactly what it says it is, a devotional Bible for women.

First of all, this Bible is for women, with 320 topical devotions that will appeal to ladies in all walks of life. The devotionals are written by women with diverse backgrounds and ethnicities. There are sensitivity notes included that say, "This entry and the passage it addresses involve highly sensitive topics that might be triggering to some readers. If that is you, be gentle with yourself."

Second, I appreciated the character profiles of prominent women of the Bible. I learned things I had not previously known about them. For instance, Deborah, in addition to being a judge, was also a singer. From Gomer, we learn that God will always try to bring us home.

There are several downsides. The first is the font. It is small. I could not find anywhere what size it is, but if I had to guess I would say around 7.5. Second, while the devotionals are written by different women, you have to look in the back of the Bible to see who wrote which devotional. Third, the words of Christ are not in red, and there is no study material in the Bible, which is why I said it is only a devotional Bible.

Regardless of my issues (which may not bother you), if you are looking for a devotional Bible and enjoy the Message translation, then look no further.

Thank you to NavPress and Front Gate Media for the opportunity to read this Bible. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
