Title: A Place of Quiet Rest: Finding Intimacy with God Through A Daily Devotional Life
Author: Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth
Publisher: Moody Publishers
Genre: Christian Nonfiction, Christian Living, Devotional,Source: Moody Publishers
My Review:
When I first started reading A Place of Quiet Rest, I thought I wouldn't learn anything new. As you can see from the tabs in the picture (and that is not everything I highlighted), I was wrong.
I've often said that if I could share just one message, it would be on the value and importance of a personal devotional life.
I already have an established quiet time and have for years. So why would I choose to read a book like this? Because I truly believe there is always something new to learn, and books like these tend to give us a perspective we may not have considered before.
When we become preoccupied with earthly things rather than eternal matters, we easily become resentful, self-centered, and angry.
Incomplete snippets from the book:
- Throne before the phone
- privilege to share sweet union and communion with the Bridegroom of my soul
- those whose lives bear the sweet, rich fruit of meeting with God on a consistent basis
- for thirsty souls
- a story that has your name and mine
- Mary had chosen to cultivate a relationship with Him
- some of us have had devotions, but not had devotion
- our souls need to be restored
Synopsis (Goodreads):
Daily time with the Lord Jesus is essential for an authentic relationship with Him. But so often, our lives interrupt this precious time. That's why Nancy Leigh DeMoss has written this compelling new book about developing a devotional life that will challenge and invite women into a deeper relationship with Christ.
