Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. The Stacking the Shelves meme is hosted at Reading Reality.

Other updates:
I finished 7 books this week, which is the only upside to being sick. I could lay around and read (when I wasn't sleeping!). I need to write the review for two books, but I think I will wait and review the series together (the last 3 books).
My other blog if interested.
What you might have missed on the blog this week:
Book Review: The Mark of the King by Jocelyn Green
Book Review: Hearts on the Fly by Toni Shiloh
Top Ten Tuesday: The Typography has it
Book Review: Edenbrooke by Julianne Donaldson
Book Review: Love in Plain Sight by Kathleen Fuller
Book Review: The Designated Friend by Drew Taylor
I am also linking up with the Sunday Post. The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. I will also be joining Deb at Readerbuzz for the Sunday Salon.

Happy Saturday folks.

DeleteSometimes I wonder if those tests are accurate. A friend was pretty sure she had Covid even though every test came back negative.
ReplyDeleteI hope you and your family are all feeling great soon, Cindy.
If anyone's curious, from my academic point of view -- the tests have a certain specificity and sensitivity. Specificity is, if they detect something, is it definitely SARS-CoV-2? And sensitivity is how likely they are to detect SARS-CoV-2 if it's present. The sensitivity/specificity of the lateral flow tests everyone's familiar with varies by manufacturer and has been known to be as low as 30% or as high as 99%. So... it depends on the manufacturer, partly, but also on when you test because you can be most infectious (and have the most viral particles that can be detected) before you're aware you're sick.
DeleteSo they're definitely not 100%, in part because of when/how they're used, but also just because not all manufacturers are as good. You can be pretty certain that if a test tells you that you have COVID, then you do (low rate of false positives), but you can't be certain you don't have it if the test is negative (high rate of false negatives).
It's one of the downsides of having rolled out these tests so widely and promoted them to everyone that people aren't helped to understand this properly, alas, so people often test and think that means they're not infectious and/or don't have anything concerning. But it does also give people information and a sense of control, which is valuable too in public health.
Very interesting! Thanks for the 411!
DeleteDeb, I understand the sentiment. I am sure I got a false negative, especially with how I felt. And, my husband tested positive this morning. I think with both of them having it, the odds are greater that is what I have as well.
DeleteNicky-I treated it as if I had it anyway, I haven't been anywhere in days (too sick anyway, LOL!), but also trying to be careful with those in my house...although my husband tested positive anyway this morning, so at this point we have all had/have it.
DeleteThanks for the info Nicky, very helpful. Eleanor has influenza a over winter break and it was terrible. We have not had Covid since I the summer of '22 and we lucked out bigtime. We showed zero symptoms and it was agonizing for Eleanor to not be able to do anything for days, becuase she felt fine. She would keep forgetting she was positive, and ask to go hang out with a friend or play at the park or go to the library.
DeleteOof, hope you're feeling better! Chances are it was either COVID or influenza, but the tests aren't perfect (as I mentioned above, ahaha -- couldn't resist since Deb was wondering)... though there are some other options that can be nasty, like RSV. Hope you get plenty of rest! That's always the best way to recover.
ReplyDeleteHurrah for plenty of reading, though! And looks like the blog was pretty busy too.
Nicky, the sickness, whatever it is, has forced a lot of rest. And, because I really just want this nasty virus gone from my house, I listened! I hope you have a great weekend!
DeleteOh no Cindy! You’ve really been having a time of it lately. I hope you and your family are healthy again very soon. Wishing you a better week ahead.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jodie, I appreciate it.
DeleteHope you all are feeling better soon. My husband had a cold this week but seems to be much improved.
ReplyDeleteJoy, glad he is improved!
DeletePeople like you who can read or watch TV or do anything when sick amaze me and I hope you will be over all the illnesses SOON!!!!
ReplyDeleteJinjer, I was mostly laying down, and the first two days were mostly sleeping. It is rare for something to keep me from reading.
DeleteI'm so sorry you haven't been feeling well. I usually don't feel like doing anything, including reading, when I don't feel well, so it's great that you were able to do that. I hope everyone in your household feels better soon! :)
ReplyDeleteMeezan, I didn't feel like doing much other than sleeping, but I could lay and read. I don't watch a lot of tv, so I wouldn't spend those hours doing that.
DeleteSounds like you have had an awful time of it. Get well soon.

DeleteOh yikes! Your family has really been through the wringer. I hope your husband can skip the worst of it. Hope you are all feeling better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Olivia, he had a high fever last night, but today seems to mostly be blowing his nose and coughing. I am hoping that his fever really was that short lived.
DeleteSorry you've been feeling so sick. It does kind of sound like Covid. Ugh. Hope it passes quickly and you're back on your feet soon. I've been hanging around my house watching the Olympics all weekend...it's been awesome. I'm sorry I have to go back to work tomorrow. ;D
ReplyDeleteLark, watching the Olympics sounds like the perfect way to spend the weekend. We don't have any of the channels it's broadcasted on, and don't want to pay for anything, so I doubt I will catch much of it this year.
DeleteI get that. I hate how they put so many of the events on streaming channels now. We have cable, so that's what's made it possible for us to watch it. I don't have any of the streaming channels, but I expect in the future I'll have to get my TV that way if I want to have anything to watch. I miss when TV was free.
DeleteLark, right?! It's insane.
DeleteHope you feel better soon!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bree!
DeleteHere's hoping you are on the mend soon. Eleanor had influenza a over winter break and is sick AGAIN. Not nearly as bad, but it seems like these super viruses are getting more and more common, and lasting longer than before.
ReplyDeleteSarah, yes!! I am SO over being sick, and I am blaming it on winter, so I am over winter as well, LOL! We've had Covid in our house for over 2 weeks (my husband tested positive yesterday). I had only been well for a little over 2 weeks before getting sick this time.
DeleteI am sorry to hear you are sick, Cindy. It really does sound like COVID, unfortunately. Not that the flu would be better. I hope you and your family are feeling better soon. Take care!
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy, I am sure it is Covid. My son had it and my husband tested positive yesterday, so it would be weird for mine to be something else.
DeleteWith so many different strains of Covid now I’m not sure the home tests are capable of accurate diagnosis anymore. I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteAt least you can read plenty!
Wishing you a happy reading week
Thanks Shelleyrae.
DeleteHope you are on the mend soon! Glad you were at least able to get some reading in.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lisa!
