The Parenting Pact

Title: The Parenting Pact

Series: Boyfriend in the Bargain #2

Author: Jordan Millsaps

Source: Kindle Unlimited

My Review:

While this is the second in the series it is not imperative to read the first book in the series first. However, I will always suggest that you do 😉. The series is linked through three siblings, so the books are interrelated.

I really enjoyed The Parenting Pact and have never read anything quite like it. Two single parents form a pact to essentially co-parent each other's kids. Even though both of their spouses have died, I didn't find the story to be heavy. However, there is a scene later in the book that brought my own grief running to the surface. I started wondering if every book will bring me to tears (and they might, LOL! My heart is very tender).

I loved the unique premise of the story, even though you can see where it is headed. I loved Olivia (Chris's daughter); her humor was top-notch. There were several laugh-out-loud moments, including a few dad jokes. This was a fun story that was a quick, easy read. I enjoyed it and highly recommend it.

★★★★/5

Synopsis (Goodreads):

Being a single parent isn’t easy. Finding love as a single parent? That’s not even on my radar.

I’ve been parenting my son on my own for five years since my husband passed.

But now that I’ve started my own interior design business, I’m beginning to realize I could use some extra help. What I need is a partner, someone to share the day-to-day logistics of running a house, raising a kid, and operating my business.

What I don’t need is to complicate my life with romance, no matter what my best friend says.

When I meet Chris, a single dad from my neighborhood, I get a crazy idea. My plan is definitely outside the box, but I think we can make it work – as long as I can keep things platonic.

But Chris is patient, persistent, passionate…all the P-words that make staying only friends harder than I thought it would be.

The Parenting Pact is book #2 in the Boyfriend in the Bargain series but can be read as a standalone.

What to expect from The Parenting Pact:
Dual POV
Friends-to-more
He falls first
Single parents
Love after loss
Closed door/kissing only
Trigger warning for discussion of loss of a spouse/parent
