Happy Friday! And welcome to First Line Friday, hosted by Hoarding Books!! It’s time to grab the book nearest to you and leave a comment with the first line. This week I am sharing from Along a Storied Trail by Ann H. Gabhart.
"Everybody thought Tansy Calhoun was heartbroken after Jeremy Simpson threw her over for Jolene Hoskins."
About the book:
Kentucky packhorse
librarian Tansy Calhoun doesn't mind the rough trails and long hours as
she serves her Appalachian mountain community during the Great
Depression. Yet she longs to find love like the heroines in her books.
When a charming writer comes to town, she thinks she might have found
it--or is the perfect man actually closer than she thinks?
Perdita
Sweet has called these mountains home for so long she's nearly as rocky
as the soil around her small cabin. Long ago she thought she could
love, but when the object of her affection up and married someone else,
she stopped giving too much of herself away to others.
As is so
often the case, it's easier to see what's best for others than to see
what's best for oneself, and Perdita knows who Tansy should choose. But
why would anyone listen to the romantic advice of an old spinster?
Saddle
up for a heartfelt story of love--love of family, love of place, and
the love of a lifetime--from bestselling author Ann H. Gabhart.
"Your father is in a coma."
ReplyDelete"What did you say?" Marian Creighton fumbled with her phone and almost dropped it. "I don't think I heard you correctly."
From COME BACK TO ME by Jody Hedlund.
I have never read Jody Hedlund. I think this book sounds really good though, really regretting I passed it up this month, LOL!
DeleteHappy Friday!

DeleteAlong a Storied Trail was so special!
ReplyDeleteThis week I am featuring Chasing Shadows by Lynn Austin, a stupendous book!
The Netherlands. may 1945 prologue
Every sound in the coal-black night seemed magnified as Lena lay awake in bed, waiting. She heard the quiet rustlings of the shadow people as they crept through the darkness in her farmhouse.
I have seen a lot of great things about Chasing Shadows, hope you are enjoying it!
DeleteHappy Weekend! My first line is from "Just Look Up" by Courtney Walsh:
ReplyDelete"Lane Kelley rested her hand on her knee, willing it to stop bouncing."
That is one I want to read. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteToday, I'm sharing the first line from A Companion for the Count by Sally Britton. "Clairvoir Castle, the Duke of Montfort's estate, housed over thirty servants, eight members of the duke's family, a governess, and Emma Arlen -- who really did not fit in any of the other categories of occupants."
