First Line Friday #27-The Memory Quilt

Happy Friday! My plans for this weekend is to enjoy my family (my daughter is home from college) and sneak in reading when/where I can. What are your plans for this weekend?

Welcome back to First Line Friday hosted by Meez Carrie at Reading is My SuperPower!! To join in the fun grab the book you are reading and leave a comment with the first line (or your link).  This week I am reading The Memory Quilt by Lenora Worth. It is the first book of the Shadow Lake series and it releases 11/30/21.

The wind hit her with a cold, uncaring slap, reminding her march could be a brutal month.

I am also linking up with Gilion on Rose City Reader for Book Beginnings. This is where you share the beginning of the book that you are reading.

Book Beginnings:

The wind hit her with a cold, uncaring slap, reminding her march could be a brutal month. A few more days and then April would be here. The sun came to her rescue with a reluctant stroll over the choppy lake waters, its early morning rays timid but steady as they lifted to the sky.

About the book (from Goodreads):

Running a historic Inn on beautiful Shadow Lake is a satisfying life for the Amish King sisters. Until love stirs a longing for more . . .

When Abigail King stumbles upon a man lying on the beach near her family inn, her every instinct says to help the stranger. With his memory gone, “Jonah” is reluctant to contact the authorities, so Abigail offers him shelter, despite her sisters’ reservations. As she nurses him back to health, Abigail helps him recover his lost past, creating a quilt from images of the shattered fragments he recalls. But with every square Abigail adds, she wonders if she is falling for a man who can never truly be hers . . .

Jonah feels at home at The Shadow Lake Inn with the lovely Abigail, at peace with the Amish lifestyle she lives. But as the pieces of his past are sewn together, the mystery only deepens—until he knows the only way forward is to turn himself in to the police, to finally discover the truth of who he really is. For the one thing worse than not knowing his past, is not knowing what the future holds for him and Abigail . . .

Your turn! Grab the current book you are reading and post the first line in the comments! Then, click on the icons below and join the fun there too! Thank you all for coming by each week, I REALLY appreciate the support and comments 😀

  1. Great lines! I can almost feel that wind. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I love that beginning! So descriptive! Thanks for sharing! Hope you have a great weekend! :)

  3. I like the sound of this one. Another book for me to add to my towering TBR. Have a great weekend!

    1. Glad to hear it Yvonne. Have you seen the meme where the books on the bedside table land on the person on the bed? Your comment reminded me of it, LOL.

  4. I know how she feels, that March wind can really be harsh. That first line does set the tone.

    1. Wendy, yes it can, especially the further north you are ;)
