My review:
This book was way more interesting than I thought it would be. I borrowed it from the library with the intent to just skim it.
However, once I started reading it I knew I had to finish it. It had a lot of valuable information in it and I had no idea that so many things were impacted by the health of the liver.There were some parts that I did not necessarily agree with (putting your hand on your liver and talking to it so you are more connected to it), but overall, I found the information valuable. I especially appreciated the chapter that gave ideas of vitamins and supplements to use for certain conditions (like gout, high blood pressure, brain fog). There was also a section devoted to liver detox and another chapter of recipes you could use for the detox.
Overall, it was a fascinating read, and if you have quite a few health issues that don't seem to be getting resolved, or seem vague, this might be a good place to start your research. I would also recommend it to anyone who wants to know more about the liver, it was a very easy read.

Interesting! What made you want to pick up a book about the liver? Ha ha! I don't think much about the liver. I know it's basic function, but that is about it. I'm glad you enjoyed this more than you thought. I love books that surprise me!
ReplyDeleteI mainly picked it up because it had a section about gout in it and my husband was recently diagnosed. I have been having health issues since mid-August and the book just kind of sucked me in, trying to see if my liver could be the problem. In a small way, it could be.
DeleteWow, this does sound interesting. The liver seems like it can cause all kinds of problems when it's not working properly. I agree with you, I don't think I'll be "putting your hand on your liver and talking to it so you are more connected to it"!
ReplyDeleteWendy, it really was. I was like "I should do a liver detox" but yeah, no, I would have to give up my coffee and granola that I have for breakfast. Not willing to do it!
