Looking back:
I started this blog on May 1, 2021-Happy 8 months to me!! I had 0 followers 😂 and no clue of exactly what this would look like. I had been blogging for almost 10 years on my other blog but had no clue what to do with a book blog. I just knew I loved reading and reviewing and wanted a blog for that purpose. As 2021 closed out I had 40 followers (thank you!!!!), more page views than the blog that I have had for 10 years, and 328 posts! I am thrilled with how I've grown and learned and look forward to more growth and learning in 2022! My favorite part of having the blog is the reader community and the comments and interactions!! Again, thank you!
My goals for 2022:
Read 200 books for the Goodreads Challenge
Read 50 books for The Nerdy Bookworm Challenge
Read 48 books for the Mount TBR Challenge
Read 12 books for the Read Your Bookshelf Challenge
Read 36 books for the Virtual TBR Challenge
Read 26 books for the Author Alphabet Soup Challenge
Read 50 books for the 2022 Literary Escapes Challenge
Would like to get 60 followers by the end of the year
Plan to read more books I own (hence the above challenges) and less new releases. I LOVE new releases but let them take control over the last few months and could not read anything else because of over committing myself.
I plan to read a *few* classics. I refuse to set a specific goal (other than 1 for sure) because I don't know how much I will enjoy them and don't want to commit until I figure it out. I have always thought I hated classics and I am sure that is because I hated having to read them in high school and college. I want to revisit and see how I truly feel 😂
In order to complete my goals I am going to have to plan well (good thing I love to plan!) and be intentional with my book picks so they will fulfill more than one goal. My saving grace is that you can use the same book for multiple challenges. Wish me luck!
Do you make book goals? If so, what are your bookish goals? What is a book you hope to read this year? I am planning my first classic to be Sense and Sensibility by Jane Austin. I am sure I have read it before (many, many years ago), but have only vague impressions of what it is about.
You are amazing, Cindy!!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks Wren, you are so sweet!! I appreciate the kind words!
DeleteSense and Sensibility sounds like a good one! I have a nice hardcover edition of that one and want to read it at at some point. Good luck with your goals, and congrats on your first 8 months as a book blogger! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Greg, I appreciate the support! Happy New Year!
DeleteFantastic goals, Cindy! I look forward to seeing your progress on all the challenges you will be participating in!

Thanks Sarah! Your reading goals are great!
DeleteI make book goals, but haven't firmed up any for this year beyond trying to read the unread books I have sitting on my own shelves. I also want to read some classics this year, and I have a long list of books on my Goodreads Want to Read shelf to choose from beyond that. Good luck with all your goals and reading challenges! I hope 2022 is a great year for you in all aspects of your life. :D
ReplyDeleteLark, that is why I am doing the Mount TBR and Virtual reading challenges, if I don't I won't have the motivation to read my own books. Even though I want to, LOL! I hope you have a wonderful year as well, I look forward to many more interactions with you!
DeleteYou are joining in on a bunch of reading challenges, it sounds like a fun year!
ReplyDeleteI may live to regret it but I will give it my best!! I am excited to join the challenges, hopefully it works out like I envision, LOL!
DeleteYay! I'm so glad you are enjoying the book blogosphere. Happy new year!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, I really am!! So much fun. Happy New Year to you as well :)
DeleteHappy New Year Cindy. I also just pledged 200 books for 2022. But, I haven't decided which challenges to participate in yet. That's my plan for this week.
ReplyDeleteWendy, I spent part of December planning them out, otherwise I felt like I would fall behind. I saw another one today (Lifetime of Reading) that sounds interesting, but don't think I should push my luck trying to fit another one in, LOL! I look forward to seeing what you choose!
