Stacking the Shelves #11, Sunday Post #8, Sunday Salon #3

Hey bookish friends! I hope you are having a fabulous weekend. My Saturday was taken up with opening my free little library (yay) and my daughter coming home from college with two friends, my son's friend popping in, and having my in-laws over for dinner. We had a very full house, with lots of laughter 😁 Today, I am exhausted, it was a bit much for this introvert πŸ˜‚What are your plans for the weekend?

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. The Stacking the Shelves meme is hosted at Reading Reality.

The Free Little Library is not actually finished, there are still quotes that need to be put on the sides, not sure when the artisan will do that. We also plan to add lights so it can be seen at night.

I added 19 books to my Goodreads shelf this week! It's too many to post here πŸ˜‰

I finished 5 books this week, DNF 2  and have started 2 more (1 fiction,1 audiobook). I am still working on some of the reviews.

I am also linking up with the Sunday Post. The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. I will also be joining Deb at Readerbuzz for the Sunday Salon.

What books have you added to your physical or virtual bookshelves? I would love to hear from you. Click on the icons below to join in on the fun. Have a great weekend!

  1. Congratulations on opening your Little Free Library. One thing that has worked for me is to mix up what's inside if books haven't all disappeared over the course of a few days. I've also had a lot of luck with magazines, and even people who don't read books, stop for these.

I'm eager to read the new Katherine Center book, but it doesn't come out until summer I think.

It sounds like you had fun with all the recent visitors, but I'm sure you are also enjoying the quiet now that they are gone!

    1. Hi Deb, I only had 2 people come to the opening, but hopefully traffic will pick up once word really gets out. My daughter's two friends are staying a week and my daughter is here for 2 weeks. I have not read Katherine Center before, so I am looking forward to it.

  2. Wow, love the Little library, we have one here, right up the street from me! Not sure how it works though! Lights on it will be attractive also! Great reads! Have a happy week!😁

    1. Hi Jo, that's the problem, I think, is that most people don't understand how it works. Here’s how it works!
      • We initially stock the Little Free Library with a variety of books
      • You stop by and take whatever catches your eye
      • You bring books to contribute when you can
I hope this helps and GO enjoy the FREE little library!!

  4. Congrats on opening your little free library! I love the color and the design!

I'm not an introvert, but I think I'd be exhausted after all of that on Saturday too, lol. I'm glad you at least had a good time full on laughter! :)

  6. I love the design of your Little Free Library! How fun! I hope you get more visitors soon.

I completely understand your exhaustion after a weekend of guests. So fun, but so taxing. πŸ™‚

I enjoyed the Brunstetter Hawaiian series.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

    1. Hi Gretchen, my husband did a great job designing it and our friend did a great job building it! I love that it is metal so it very durable! I have read other Brunstetter books, but not this series.

  9. Congratulations - your Little Free Library looks great! I love the idea; I'm sad that we can't have one (due to HOA restrictions.) As far as getting the word out, if you register your LFL with littlefreelibrary.org and share your location, they can put it on their World Map, so people searching in your area can find it... but that means being comfortable sharing your location, which you may not want to do. Whatever you do to get the word out, I hope your LFL is a huge success!

    1. Lark, thanks so much! I have registered it on the World Map with my location, it will take a few days to get up, but I had to wait until I had a picture of it.

  10. Congrats on your Little Free Library, you seem to have great fun with it! I see more and more in my neighborhood. We are just renters, so I don't want to bother our awesome landlord with requesting permission to set one up

    1. Emma, that's great that you have several in your neighborhood! There are only 2 in our zip code and neither one is super close to us.

  13. Your Little Free Library is adorable! The one in my neighborhood is just a red box. It's not even big enough to fit tall books. :)

    1. Aj, I wanted a shelf in both of them, but it didn't happen (miscommunication), but I was very clear that it HAD to be able to accommodate tall books!

    1. Lyn, I first started on Net Galley in 2016 for one book. I did not understand how it worked and didn't start using it consistently until 2020 (I think). In 2021 I felt like I requested way too many books and never caught up with everything I obligated myself to do. This year I have cut WAY back!
