My review:

I would say we all have our fair share of distractions. So, when I saw Undistracted: Capture Your Purpose and Rediscover Your Joy, I knew I had to read it.

The fact that it was written by Bob Goff, who I think is full of wisdom, was an extra enticement. The icing on the cake was it talking about capturing your purpose. I am in a season of transition and wondering what my new purpose is for this season.

We get stuck in the past, worry about the present, or get distracted by the future. We no longer lean into our lives right where we are but instead lean away from them and become individuals who bear little resemblance to the people God intended us to become.

Undistracted is exactly what I thought it would be: full of wisdom. I highlighted quite a few notes in the book, and it is one I will read again. I appreciate Goff's writing style. It is consistent throughout his books, it really feels like you are having a conversation with him.

Sometimes we are so busy looking up and looking forward trying to figure out the next moves in our lives-or looking backward at all the places we have been-that we don't look down and figure out where we actually are.

We live much of our lives struggling for focus, unsure of how to interact with our family or friends.

In a word, much of life can leave us feeling completely, inextricably, absolutely, and totally distracted. When this happens, one of the first casualties is our joy.

A few chapters toward the end dragged by, and I felt the book could do without them. Overall, I enjoyed the book, the stories Goff shares, and the wisdom he imparts. We will not agree with all of it, but we can see the points he is making and appreciate what he has learned along the way.

★★★★/5

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

The world has never been more distracting—joy has never been more possible.

You live with a massive amount of distraction:

desperate headlines
smartphone scrolling

Not to mention the nagging questions of your heart:

Am I making the right decision?

Your undistracted life is an adventure waiting to happen. What stories will you live with undistracted purpose and unstoppable joy?

  4. When I saw the words Undistracted it instantly caught my eye, I have been reading a book called the power of habit by Charles Duhigg, I think undistracted would be the next book I need to read to help me be more focused and confident.
