Can't-Wait Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted at Wishful Endings,
to spotlight and discuss the books we're excited about that we have yet
to read. Typically they are books that have not been released yet. This week I am sharing Dark of Night by Colleen Coble. It released yesterday January 10, 2023. Since I am not likely to get a copy of it anytime soon I can still be excited about it 😂 Plus, I haven't read the first in the series, so I need to catch up. And, since I just looked and the third book comes out in July, I might just binge them all toward the end of the year, LOL!
The law is about justice—not grace. But perhaps ranger Annie Pederson can find a way to have both.
As
if the last few months haven’t been hard enough—complete with threats
on her life and the return of her first love, Jon—Annie has to figure
out whether or not to believe a woman who claims to be her sister,
Sarah, who was abducted twenty-four years ago at age five. Annie’s
eight-year-old daughter, Kylie, has plenty of questions about what’s
going on in her mother’s life—but there are some stories Annie doesn’t
want uncovered.
As Annie grapples with how to heal the gulf
between her and her would-be sister and make room in her daughter’s life
for Jon, she’s professionally distracted by the case of yet another
missing hiker in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. A woman named Michelle
Fraser has now been abducted, and though the woman’s estranged husband
is at the top of their suspect list, Annie and her colleagues will need
to dig deeper to determine whether these recent mysteries are truly as
unrelated as they seem.
In this second novel of bestselling
author Colleen Coble’s latest romantic-suspense series, Annie and Jon
must fight for the future—and the family—that could once more be theirs.
You better get a move on to be ready by July, lol!
ReplyDeleteNah, I will wait until the library has all three and grab them together, LOL!
DeleteOoh it's set in the Upper Peninsul as well- yay! (My home state ha)
ReplyDeleteGreg, I hope to visit Michigan someday!! I really wanted to this past summer, we were so close, but it was not to be, sadness!
DeleteI love Colleen Coble, but when I heard this series was kind of an off-shoot of another one of her series I hadn't read, I wasn't sure if I should start it or read the other one first.
ReplyDeleteGretchen, I hadn't heard that, do you remember which one?
DeleteI looked into it a little more and it is the Rock Harbor series. From what I can gather there are some characters from that series that make an appearance in the Annie Pederson series, which also takes place in Rock Harbor, but you don't need to have read the other series first. I tend to not want to miss anything, so was thinking about reading the Rock Harbor series first. But it is 6 books long, so I think I have decided to read the Annie Pederson series and then see if I want to go back and read Rock Harbor.
DeleteGretchen, I can understand that! I have read the first in that series, but that's it.
DeleteIt looks like an exciting series. I hope you get all the books and enjoy them
ReplyDeleteThanks Wendy, my library has the first two already, so odds are in my favor ;)
DeleteI take issue with the first line of the publisher's summary. I am a paralegal and everyone I know in the legal field states that we have a legal system, not a justice system. However, I am intrigued now by this statement and will probably get this book.
ReplyDeleteLaura, thanks for sharing your perspective! You've made me think!
DeleteI have the first one, but haven't read it yet. Like you, I'm thinking about just binge reading the whole series when they're all out. :)
ReplyDeleteAshley, I think it's the perfect plan...that way if there are any cliff hangers we can just go on to the next book :)
DeleteSounds interesting, but I probably best check out the first book before diving into this one. :)
ReplyDeleteHere's my Waiting on Wednesday post.
Majanka, sounds like a good plan!
DeleteI haven't read the first book in this series yet either but, I agree, it does sound good!
ReplyDeleteWendy, right?!
DeleteWow there’s a lot going on on this book - I’m intrigued! I hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to read it Cindy.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jodie, I am sure I will ;)
DeleteI haven't read the first book in the series either but I remember reading several excellent reviews for it.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, same!
DeleteI haven't read the first book yet but it's on my wishlist. Sounds like a good one.
ReplyDeleteYvonne, I agree! I hope you are able to get it!
DeleteI am not familiar with this author but based on all the comments she must be good. I also like books that are series based so that makes it appealing too :)
ReplyDeleteShellie, if you like suspense books Colleen Coble is fabulous! A very consistent writer!
DeleteIt's been SUCH a long time since I read a novel by Colleen but those I read I did enjoy. Someday perhaps I'll read some of her never titles. :)
ReplyDeleteRissi, I am sure you will...someday ;)
