Farm to Trouble

Title:  Farm to Trouble (Audio)

Series: Farm to Table Mystery #1

Narrator: Madelaine Lambert

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Publisher: Poisoned Pen Press
Source: Hoopla/library

My review:
Farm to Trouble is a cozy mystery set in Michigan. Having read Amanda Flower's Amish mystery series, I was looking forward to this one.
I tried listening to this on audio, but after nine chapters, I couldn't take the narrator's voice. She was adding to the drama that was going on in the story, but not in a way I could handle.
I liked Shiloh but had a difficult time connecting with her. I didn't understand the whole town's grudge against her. Even with her friends and family Shiloh's relationships were complicated.

All in all, this was just an okay read for me.

Synopsis (Goodreads):
Coming home to a run-down farm, gossipy neighbors, and a shady investor is a lot to handle... but a murderer on the loose is the final straw!

Shiloh Bellamy cashed in her big city job and 401K to return home to Michigan to save the family farm, but turning Bellamy Farms into a sustainable, organic operation - complete with a farm-to-table café - is no small feat. Especially when her new investor is found dead among the flowers just hours after the contract is signed. Everyone knows her father had a grudge against the investor, and word travels fast in a small town...

Now, Shiloh must clear her family's name and track down the real killer before her organic farm dreams wilt before her very eyes. But with her father trying to stop any progress on his land, her cousin belittling her every effort, the farmhouse falling down around her, and the whole town believing her family at fault, Shiloh's small town troubles are growing much faster than her crops. She'll have to trust her own investigation or risk all her dreams drying up before they begin.

  1. Thanks for sharing. I lived in Michigan for many years and love reading cozy from that area.

    1. You're welcome :) I hope you enjoy it if you get a chance to read it!

  2. I have yet to read one of Amanda Flower's series. It sounds like this may not be the best one to start with. I was planning to start with the Amish mystery series and think I will stick with that!

    1. Gretchen, yes, I really enjoyed the Amish series :)

  3. Oh I have this one to read too! Thanks for the reminder Cindy!💜

  4. I haven't read an Amanda Flower cozy mystery yet. She's been on my list for a while.
