My review:
I enjoy the Hope Harbor series and have read them (unintentionally) out of order. While there are repeat characters in each book, it doesn't spoil anything, as each book can stand alone. Pelican Point is the fourth in the series and has two intersecting storylines.
Lights flash when Marci and Ben meet, police lights, that is. From their rocky beginning, sparks fly each time they meet. Part of that is Marci's fiery temper and their disagreement over the lighthouse.
Greg and Rachel's marriage is on the rocks. Life is not going the way they planned, and Greg is bitter. Unfortunately, Rachel takes the brunt of that bitterness as Greg doesn't leave the house much. However, once Greg takes on a project, things start to change.
With its quirky cast of characters, Hope Harbor is a place I wish existed in real life, but I enjoy visiting in the books. Pelican Point is a quick read that will have you rooting for a happily ever after for both couples...and the lighthouse!
★★★/5
Synopsis (Goodreads):
A crumbling lighthouse is not part of the
inheritance Army doctor Ben Garrison expects to claim when he journeys
to Hope Harbor. Fresh out of the service, he wants only to unload the
tower of bricks, decompress from years of treating battlefield trauma,
and prepare to launch his civilian career.
Hope Harbor Herald
editor Marci Weber has other ideas. She may not be a Hope Harbor
native, but the small Oregon seaside town has become home--and she's
determined to save the Pelican Point landmark.
Sparks fly as the
two go head to head over the fate of the lighthouse. But when they start
to cooperate, a different kind of fire ignites. And as they work
together, might Hope Harbor heal the hearts of these two romance-wary
souls?
Bestselling author Irene Hannon invites readers back to
their favorite town for a story that will light a beacon of hope within
their hearts.
I'm glad to hear these are standalones. I have a couple of books in this series, so I'm eager to read them one of these days. Great review! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley. I own #2 and haven't read it yet, LOL. This one was enjoyable, but not one of my favorites.
DeleteI haven't read any books in this series, but I'm always drawn to stories with lighthouses in them.
ReplyDeleteLark, me too. I love lighthouses!
DeleteI read the first book in the Hope Harbor series a few years back and really liked it. I'm not sure why I never continued with the series.
ReplyDeleteWendy, so many books, so little time!! It's hard to keep up!
