Series: Pearl River #1
Author: Patricia Bradley
Publisher: Revell
Genre: Christian Fiction, Suspense, Contemporary Romance,

My Review:
Counter Attack is the first in the Pearl River series by Patricia Bradley. It is set in Tennessee, which I love.
Wow. Just wow. Counter Attack is intense in all the best ways and I lost sleep while reading it. I could not put it down, especially as the story got closer to the end.Read for:
♜chess moves
♜small-town vibes
♜second chance romance
♜close family relationship
♜fast-paced suspense
♜well-developed characters
♜near death experiences
♜faith content is woven seamlessly throughout
♜interesting look into the dark web
I could go on with the reasons to read, but I won't. While I did figure out who one of the bad guys was, it did not diminish my enjoyment of the story. I loved this story!
♜♜♜♜♜/5
Synopsis (Goodreads):
A brand new heart-stopping series from a USA Today bestselling author
No
sooner has Alexis Stone been sworn in as the interim sheriff for
Russell County, Tennessee, when a serial killer dubbed the Queen's
Gambit Killer strikes again--this time in her hometown. Pearl Springs is
just supposed to be a temporary stop along the way to Alex's real
becoming the first female police chief of Chattanooga. But the killer's
calling card--a white pawn and a note with a chess move printed on
it--cannot be ignored.
Pearl Springs chief of police Nathan
Landry can't believe that his high school sweetheart Alexis (he refuses
to call her Alex) is back in town, and he can't help wanting to protect
the woman he never stopped loving. But as the danger mounts and the
killer closes in, can Nathan come through on the promises he makes to
himself to bring a killer to justice before it's too late.
