My Review:
Valentine Bride is the first book I have read by Shanna Hatfield. It is a quick, easy read.
The beginning of the book is so amusing it immediately sucked me in. I absolutely LOVED Fynlee's grandmother, Matilda, she is a hoot. I also laughed out loud when Carson met Fynlee. It is the best meet-cute! Throw in Carson's Aunt Ruth and I thought it was going to be a great story.
However, I was not thrilled that Carson had a girlfriend and was trying to decide if he liked Fynlee or wanted to make it work with his girlfriend. This went on for a while before Fynlee even knew he had a girlfriend!
Carson was the sweetest with Matilda and his Aunt Ruth, but plain dumb in the relationship department, and it comes back to bite him in a big way. This did spoil the story for me, even though there were a lot of redeeming qualities.
Overall, I am glad to have read the story, but it does make me wonder about the author's other books.
★★★/5
Synopsis (Goodreads):
Two unlikely matchmakers
set the stage for love…
Fynlee Dale returns to Holiday to take care of her wacky
grandmother. Although it means giving up her dreams of a career and
husband, she needs to be there for Grams.
Carson Ford vows to
take care of his elderly aunt after buying her ranch. Comfortable with
all aspects of his life, his world turns upside down when he meets a
woman who's impossible to forget.
They find themselves in the midst of a plot by two scheming old women determined to make them fall in love.
Valentine Bride
is a funny, sweet romance novella given a liberal dose of humor through
a cast of colorful characters intertwined around a heartwarming love
story.
Happy day of love my friend. Regine

Lark, nope. I mean, he has redeeming qualities, but come on, it's practically cheating! The humor was great though.
