My Review:
I immediately started listening to The Widow of Falbrooke Court once I finished The Lady of Larkspur Vale by Kasey Stockton. I wanted to know if Amelia and Charles mend their fences and fall in love.
If you are also curious about, you will have to read the book to find out because I will not give spoilers.
The Widow of Falbrooke Court has two romance story lines. Interestingly, both ladies are widowers and neither male lead has been married.
I did not like Amelia from the beginning. I struggled to like her at all. She was impulsive and headstrong at the most dangerous times, then made assumptions about Charles for most of the book. It went on far too long. For someone who could be so headstrong, it didn't feel right that she didn't just talk to him.
I enjoyed the side romance more than Amelia's.
★★★/5
Synopsis (Goodreads):
Can true love break the curse? Amelia Fawn is
cursed—or so she believes. How else can she explain each of her
husbands' deaths within the first year of marriage? So after the ton
names her the Black Widow and warns eligible men to stay clear, Amelia
vows never to marry again. Not even if she falls in love. Charles
Fremont has loved Amelia Fawn his entire life. But after enduring
countless rejections and watching her get married three other times,
he's finally had enough. He swears a vow to never ask anything from her
again. Even if it kills him. Book three in the Ladies of Devon series ,
The Widow of Falbrooke Court, is a clean Regency romance continuing the
story of the four women who make up a literary society in Devon and form
a lasting friendship.
