Welcome to the Takeover + Review Blitz for 70 North by Kimberley Woodhouse hosted by JustRead Publicity Tours!

Title: 70 North
Series: Alaskan Cyber Hunters #3
Author: Kimberley Woodhouse
Publisher: Kregel Publications
Release Date: October 15, 2024
Genre: Christian Mystery & Suspense

My Review:

70 North is the final book in the Alaskan Cyber Hunters series by Kimberley Woodhouse. While it could stand alone, reading this series in order is best, as the final mastermind is revealed, and you will miss some of the connections.

This book requires a bit of concentration, as the timeline jumps around with several different perspectives. This includes the killer's perspective and a female member of a group he was once in charge of.

The story moves at a fast clip with plenty of action and suspense. If you want a glimpse at how truly evil one person can be, in a scary, real way, then this is the book for you. I was seriously disturbed by the level of destruction one person could cause. It's even scarier to think that cyber threats like this could happen.

I appreciated Dr. Tracie Hunter's dedication to her job. I disagreed with her making her job her life, but given what we know about her, it's understandable.

I enjoyed the cast of characters (the good guys). They had a solid friendship and good chemistry on the page. I loved Mac's bond with the guys and the accountability they had with each other.

While all the threads are mostly wrapped up, one is left hanging, which made me not enjoy the ending. This is a personal preference and I can't say what happened, but it was surprising.

Thank you to JustReads Publicity and Kregel for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

About the Book

The Cyber Solutions team has managed to stay one step ahead of the madman who has killed so many. From the original 26 Below cyberattack in Fairbanks to the 8 DOWN serial murders in Anchorage and beyond, they matched wits with the killer and stopped him from reaching his ultimate goals.

But final judgment is coming. And this time, there may be no defeating him.

David "Mac" McPherson has a personal stake in making sure this predator stays down for good. His family died in the cyberattack. Mac knows that God says "vengeance is mine"—but surely an exception can be made.

Surgeon Tracie Hunter is determined to stay sober and keep saving lives in Fairbanks, Alaska—even if it means being a little obsessive. After all, that same kind of determination is how she kept Mac alive after the murderer targeted him. And she won't let Mac run himself into the grave looking for payback; he's come to mean too much to her.

Then someone hacks into the system at Tracie's previous job as a medical examiner and frames her in a murder cover-up. There's no one else skilled enough to create a digital trail this incriminating—the killer is back in action, exploiting cybersecurity weaknesses to destroy lives. Can Mac stay focused and stop the next attack when his own vulnerability is exposed? Or will his need to make someone pay for his pain allow the maniac to pull ahead and win at last?

  2. It sounds like the fast-paced action and disturbing cyber threats make for a gripping read, especially with the way the timeline and multiple perspectives keep the reader on their toes. I appreciate how you acknowledged both the strengths of the characters, like Dr. Tracie Hunter's dedication, and the friendships among the "good guys." It’s interesting that one thread was left unresolved—those kinds of endings can be tricky, especially when everything else is wrapped up. Overall, it sounds like a powerful conclusion to the Alaskan Cyber Hunters series!

    1. Carrie, It does mean more could come, but it's supposed to be the end. IF it is, I am sad and concerned, if more comes, it makes sense, LOL!
