My Review:
I love Bibles! I like collecting them and reading through them, highlighting them, and learning from them. So, I was pretty excited to get a copy of The Open Bible.
This Bible is a bit of a chunkster, but so worth its weight (literally, LOL!). I want to be clear that I am not reviewing the Bible; I am reviewing the features of this particular Bible.
The Open Bible is made from a leather-soft material and has a sewn binding. What I love the most is that no matter what page you turn to, the Bible stays open!! My next favorite feature is the font; it feels huge, but in reality is only 9 pt, which is still bigger than your standard Bible font.
At the beginning of each book of the Bible, you get a broad overview of that book. You get the normal information, like who wrote it and what was going on during that time period, but you get extra features as well. There is a section called "Christ in (Genesis)" and you see how Christ is in that particular book of the Bible. That section is followed by "Keys to (Genesis)," which tells the reader the key theme, verses, and chapter of that book of the Bible.

There are so many great features to this Bible, including the most in-depth topical index I have ever seen in a Bible (over 200 pages!). Another great feature is the verse-by-verse layout of Scripture. Each verse starts on a new line, with any cross references listed at the end of the verse. Finally, I really appreciate that this Bible is also a red letter edition with the words of Christ being in red. There are so many wonderful features to this Bible (listed in the description of the Bible below). As a side note, even my husband loved this Bible, trying to steal it from me before I even had a chance to start going through it 😂.
The only thing that would have made this Bible better, in my opinion, is if it had been in a different translation. I usually read NIV, and Thomas Nelson does have the Open Bible in that translation as well!
Thank you to Thomas Nelson and Front Gate Media for the opportunity to read this Bible. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

thanks for this interesting review, friend. i have gathered a number of Bibles along the way, but still stick with my one from 30+ years ago. it's held together with clear packing tape but i wouldn't give it up for anything.
ReplyDeletehow blessed we are to have such a selection to choose from.
Linda, I totally understand having a favorite, I do as well. However, as I am getting older, I might just transition to one of these with the larger font, LOL!
