There are many topics to choose from when choosing nonfiction. For example:
Biography, Autobiography, Memoire, History, Travel, Health, Politics, History, Religion and Spirituality, Science, Art, Medicine, Gardening, Food, Business, Education, Music but to name a few. Maybe use this week to challenge you to pick a genre you wouldn't normally read. Or stick to what you like is fine. If you are a nonfiction genre newbie, did your choice encourage you to read more?
What are you looking for when you pick up a nonfiction book? I enjoy reading nonfiction because I love learning. So, when I pick up a nonfiction book, I am hoping to learn more about that subject. For example, if I read a memoir, it's because I want to learn more about that particular person.

My current nonfiction reads:

I can't give an all-time favourite nonfiction book, though I return to the neuroscience books of Oliver Sacks and the travel books of Eric Newby regularly. I read about all sorts and I will read about pretty well anything if it sparks an interest when I pick the book up or spot it on someone else's blog!
ReplyDeleteLiz, I can understand that.
