MY REVIEW

I'm hanging up my label maker.

I was caught up in the story from the first line. I love that Nicki is a professional organizer. She is down-to-earth, sweet, and easy to connect with. You immediately empathize with her fear of having to move back in with her mother. I think most adults have the same fear when things are not going quite as well as we hoped they would be going.

After three years of blood, sweat, and tears, I've failed at the one thing I'd believed I was meant to do.

Ms. O'Conner immediately reminds me of Emily Gilmore when her character is introduced. I find her a bit cold and abrupt. However, as the story goes on we get a much better understanding of her character and the layers that surround her.

After seven hours of intense work, I finally finish organizing all of Ms. O'Connor's shoes.

When Ms. O'Conner is going through her father's things she finds a business card with a Chinese address. I didn't understand her decision to immediately take off for China to find a secret, why it was so urgent, and why she insists a virtual stranger go with her. She is extremely impulsive several times in the story, which seems contradictory to her character.

Ms. O'Connor's allowing a powerful emotion to dictate her actions, but I can't let her.

Through this unlikely friendship, Nicki and Ms. O'Conner learn that things are not always as they seem. They learn quite a bit about each other and Nicki grows in ways that she didn't know were possible. As does Ms. O'Connor. I loved following their journey and experiencing China through Nicki's eyes. Having traveled and lived overseas I have been in some of the exact situations that Nicki found herself in. I appreciate that there is not a love interest in the story. It was refreshing to read a story and not have it be all about or even end in a romance. It would have been distracting to the storyline, which was incredible (despite my complaints!).

My biggest complaint is that I felt like the story ended abruptly. There were so many details in the story and then it just ended. However, it leaves room for the next two books in the series. The author takes us on an emotional journey with a few surprises that leaves us wanting more.

Thank you to the author and JustRead Publicity for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

ABOUT THE BOOK

Professional organizer Nicki Mayfield is on her way to becoming the next Marie Kondo – if only she could find clients and make ends meet! While looking for new professional opportunities, Nicki’s also determined to sort out her personal life. Despite dealing with a mother who’s a prime candidate for Hoarders and battling her own doubts about marriage and parenting, Nicki is certain she can transform the chaos around her into order.

When all hope seems lost, the eccentric socialite Katherine O’Connor enters Nicki’s world. Boosted by Ms. O’Connor’s desperate need for organizing help, Nicki pushes out of her comfort zone — in work, love, and life. Together they discover an unknown Chinese address on a business card. Determined to uncover the identity of the address and how it connected with the father her client hardly knew, Ms. O’Connor and Nicki embark on an adventure that takes them across the world. There, both women must break down the walls surrounding their hearts to help those who can’t help themselves. In doing so, Nicki and Ms. O’Connor learn that things and people aren’t always what they seem, that hidden treasures lead to new beginnings, and that sometimes — surprisingly — God has things perfectly arranged.
