Stacking the Shelves #10, Sunday post #7, Sunday Salon #2

Hey bookish friends! I hope your weekend is off to a great start. I ended up at the doctor on Thursday, had a breathing treatment and came out of there with a diagnosis of bronchitis. I was also told to take a long weekend and rest, so I am planning on reading, blogging, and maybe watching a movie 😁 What are your plans for the weekend?

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. The Stacking the Shelves meme is hosted at Reading Reality.

BOOK EXCHANGE:
I have been talking about my book exchange for months and several of you expressed interest in it so I thought I would do one for any bloggers that are interested. In order for it to be successful you would need to have other bookish friends who are willing to participate. When I did it I posted on Facebook, but you could post to Facebook, your blog, or whatever platform you feel would get the best response.I’m looking for people to participate in a huge book exchange. You can be anywhere in the world. All you have to do is buy your favorite book (just one) and send it to a stranger (I'll send
their details in a private message). You’ll receive roughly 36 books back to you, to keep (I received 12). They'll be favorite books from strangers around the world. An easy option is to order your book off of Amazon or another favorite book retailer and have it sent directly to your person. If you are interested, tell me in the comments you are in and then fill out the contact form at the bottom of this page. (Commenting I'm in helps me to know who to be looking for emails from 😉) If you are not interested do nothing and carry on with your day, there's no pressure here 😀

I added 17 books to my Goodreads shelf this week! It's too many to post here 😉

I finished 7 books this week, DNF 2 (one I will come back to at another time) and have started 2 more (1 fiction,1 audiobook). I am still working on some of the reviews.

I am also linking up with the Sunday Post. The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. I will also be joining Deb at Readerbuzz for the Sunday Salon.

What books have you added to your physical or virtual bookshelves? I would love to hear from you. Click on the icons below to join in on the fun. Have a great weekend!

  1. I'm sorry to hear that you have bronchitis. I imagine that I probably have it, too, since I've had a cough since Christmas. Hope you feel better soon.

I'm eager to see what you think of Diverse Spines.

And I'd love to join in for your book exchange.

  2. I think we have identical weekend plans, Cindy. Minus the bronchitis. I sure hope you feel better soon.

I love your idea of the book exchange. But, it's not for me as I don't keep many physical books. But, I love to see which books you get!

    1. Wendy, a weekend of reading sounds lovely, doesn't it? No worries on the book exchange. Believe it or not, we have been paring down our books too. The lovely thing is my library should open next weekend and I will have a great place to put the books once I finish :) I did post on the Library page a picture of the library in progress if you'd like to check it out.

  8. I hope you feel better soon, Cindy. A cough that hangs on and difficulty breathing is not fun or comfortable. I sat in the sun yesterday and got a bit of a burn, so today will be hanging out in my condo, reading and watching the Olympics. I will also watch the SuperBowl tonight. Good luck with your book exchange. I have so many physical books that I have not read, I will pass. I hope you enjoy A Stranger's Game, I also have it to read, but I do enjoy Colleen Coble's books. Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

  10. Ugh, it's no fun right now! I've been coughing a lot, but I know part of it is my usual asthma that kicks in when it gets cold outside. If it gets worse I'll go to the doctor. I love the Diverse Spines book, but it is the kind I would want to own and have on my bookshelf! Which I'll probably do at some point, lol. Have a great week!

    1. Thanks Lisa. Today I am also having sinus pressure in my eyes and head, but hopefully it's the change in weather and I will feel better tomorrow. Have a great week!

  11. Hi there Cindy! I hope you had a good and relaxing weekend and that you are feeling much better already. I love the idea of The Book Exchange, but the South African Postal service is just way to unpredictably to try it internationally. But brilliant initiative.

Have a good week Cindy and take care of yourself.

    1. Thanks. Feel free to fill out the contact form if you are interested. The results vary depending on how many people you get to sign up. I received 12 books the last time I did it, but I only bought 1, so I came out ahead and was happy with the results.

  21. I'm glad to see you're starting to feel better! A weekend of reading and resting sounds perfect; if only we didn't have to be sick to get it prescribed! ;)
I'm intrigued by the book exchange! And the Diverse Spines book which I hadn't heard of before.
Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  22. I hope you had a nice, quiet, restful weekend, and hopefully you're getting over the bronchitis, too.

I'm glad you had success with the book exchange. I'm always leery of those; the structure reminds me too much of the chain letters of my youth. But I'm glad it was fun for you! And I love your Little Free Library. That's something I think would be fun to do, but our POA doesn't allow it. I do occasionally drop off books to other LFLs in our county, though.

Have a great week, and happy reading!

    1. Lark, I understand the chain letter thing, {shudder}, and it doesn't work for everyone. I was happy with my results, we'll see how this one goes :)
