My review:
Sunburst is the second book in the Sky King Ranch series. I HIGHLY recommend reading the first book, Sunrise, before diving into this one.
There are several story threads that continue from Sunrise to Sunburst and from Sunburst into Sundown (coming 11/22).Susan May Warren ramped up the action and suspense in this second installment. A lot is going on with the characters: secrets, second chance romance (slow-burn), reconciliation, character growth, healing, and so much more. Half the story takes place in Nigeria and the other half is in Alaska, both great locations, in my opinion.
I like that this series revolves around the Kingston brothers, and it has been interesting seeing them interact with each other through the first two books. I can't wait until Sundown comes out to read Colt and Tae's story.
Thank you to Revell for the opportunity to read this book. I was not required to provide a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Synopsis (from Goodreads):
When former Navy SEAL
and lifelong bachelor Ranger Kingston is called upon to take part in a
rescue mission to save his brother Colt, who has been kidnapped by
terrorists in Nigeria, he is shocked to find among the hostages a woman
he knows and could never forget.
Noemi Sutton was attempting to
return a young girl to her family in Boko Haram territory when she and
the girl found themselves taken hostage, along with several others.
And
while Ranger Kingston may be able to get the hostages away from their
captors, he'll need Noemi's help if he ever hopes to get out of Nigeria
alive.
Her solution? Pose as husband and wife. But when her uncle
discovers the union, he insists on a traditional Nigerian
wedding--binding Noemi to a man destined to break her heart. Worse,
she's discovered the real reason she was kidnapped, and anyone around
her is bound to be caught in the cross fire. Including her so-called new
husband.
She'll need to figure out a way to leave the man she loves if she wants to save his life.
USA Today bestselling author Susan May Warren throws you into the thick of the action in this high-stakes, globe-trotting romance.
I really liked the sound of this one, especially the Nigerian setting and the two of them having to get married, but I should probably read the first one in this series first.
ReplyDeleteLark, I would, because they are so interconnected!

Thanks Regine, it was good!
DeleteAm putting both this one and Sunrise on my TBR list. That Nigerian setting is so intriguing...and so heartbreaking, too.
ReplyDeleteLark, yes, it is and some of that is shown in the book, although it's not the focus.
DeleteNice review, Cindy and thanks for the tip to read the first book before this one.
ReplyDeleteWendy, absolutely! I hate picking up a second book and realizing I've missed something.
