My review:

Love Under Construction is the first book in the Love Under Construction series by Penny Zeller.

I have been wanting to read this one for a while. I was in desperate need of a light, fluffy read, and I thought this would fit the bill. I was not prepared for the beginning, which is not very light. Even the cover gives the impression of a light read.

However, I still enjoyed the story. There is a bit of a miscommunication (a pet peeve of mine), and it took a while to resolve it. Irelynn and Quinton could have/should have discussed it sooner, but it makes sense once it is resolved. Mia and Max (the twins) are super adorable and written well.

Overall, this is a mostly light read, with depth. There are some humorous moments, wonderful side characters, and the relationship between Irelynn and Quinton takes a natural, unrushed progression.

I would recommend Love Under Construction to anyone who enjoys a faith-filled contemporary romance story.

Synopsis (Goodreads):

She builds websites. He builds houses. Together, can they build a family for two orphans?

Irelynn agreed two years ago to help raise her best friend’s twins should anything happen. When she is called upon to fulfill that agreement, there is only one problem—Irelynn must share the responsibility with the arrogant but handsome Quinton Gregory.

Quinton takes the role of raising his niece and nephew with all seriousness. He will do anything for the twins, even if it means putting up with the beautiful but stubborn Irelynn Brady.

When forced to be in each other’s presence far more often than is comfortable, things slowly begin to change. Will the unexpected attraction between Irelynn and Quinton become a love under construction?

Readers of Christian contemporary romance will enjoy this faith-based tale with heartwarming and memorable characters.

  1. I know what you mean about wanting light and fluffy reads sometimes! And even with the whole miscommunication frustration in this one, it still sounds like a cute story. And such a fun premise! :D

  2. I've added this one to my TBR. Thanks for mentioning it's not as light and fluffy as one would expect based on the cover.
