My Review:
I have been excited about the Sweater Weather series since I first heard about it. When The Fall Back Plan by Melanie Jacobson was released on Thursday, I immediately downloaded it and started reading it. I have no regrets 😂! The books are loosely tied together by their cozy fall romcom vibe and take place in the same town, Harvest Hollow.
Jolie is back in the town she grew up in. She doesn't have fond memories and holds a grudge against several people. Of course, the first person she encounters is Lucas, the Sheriff, and she can't reconcile how he is now an upstanding citizen. I liked Jolie, and I loved her character growth. While she seems like all hard edges, her softer side appears when she meets Brooklyn.
Lucas is attracted to Jolie from their first encounter and doesn't understand the walls she has built despite the obvious chemistry between them. He apologizes for the way he treated her in high school, which shows how much he has changed since high school. Lucas is exactly what Jolie needs and he is a perfect gentleman. He is patient with her, giving her the space she needs.
This is a very slow-burn romance novel. I loved it. Here is what you can expect to find:
- enemies to more
- single dad
- witty banter
- sizzling kisses (when they finally get there 😂)
- swoon-worthy hero
- strong heroine
- overcoming poverty
- fabulous story
- trivia night
- library/librarian plays a strong role in the story
- strange doll mystery
- found family
Side note: Readers of my blog know I prefer clean reads. While this is a closed-door romance, there is some mild profanity.
