My Review:
Absolutely Not in Love is the first book I have read that is solely written by Jenny Proctor. I have read others that she co-authored with Emma St. Clair. It is book seven of the Sweater Weather series. The books are loosely tied together by
their cozy fall romcom vibe and take place in the same town, Harvest
Hollow.
I feel like I already knew Gracie and Felix from their previous appearances in Just Don't Fall by Emma St. Clair. I loved Felix as the male lead. He has so much depth and character. Yes, he has flaws as well (people pleasing), but he also recognizes his issues and works on fixing them.
I like Gracie as well, but not as much as Felix. She was more likely to ignore problems than solve them, and then get upset about how things turned out.
I wanted to love this story, but I didn't. There was too much talk about sex and fixating on sex (but not having), and unnecessary swear words. I enjoyed most of the storyline, but these things, and a few others took it from really good, to I liked it.
Content warning: talk of sex, some spice, mild language.
★★★/5
Synopsis (Goodreads):
My requirements for a man are simple. Must love books. Must NOT love hockey.
Which
is why I will never be interested in my neighbor, the aloof and
mysterious Felix Jamison, no matter how many books I see him hauling
into his apartment. Unless he loses his pro hockey skates, I’m out.
But
then he shows up at my symphony concert. And I catch the sweet strains
of Bach floating across the hall. Have I mentioned how incredible he
looks in his game day suit?
Still, my history with hockey is
complicated. My older brother played, and let’s just say he stole enough
limelight to land a plane at midnight. I was forced to be a part of
that world for so long, now that I have a choice, it’s the last thing I
want.
But something tells me Felix is about to change my mind…
Absolutely
Not in Love is a closed-door hockey romcom with forced proximity, a
bookish hockey goalie, a classical musician, and all the swoony
chemistry you want.
I haven't read a single one of these, but do think they sound and look cute. So someday I may pick up a random one or two and see if they're fun reads. :)
ReplyDeleteRissi, some are better than others, overall, I enjoyed them all.
DeleteI think her requirements for a man--that he Must Love Books--is pretty funny.
ReplyDeleteLark, it is, but not a bad requirement ;)
