My Review:
Double Take by Lynette Eason is the first book in her newest series, Lake City Heroes. I am already anticipating book two!
What a fantastic start to a new series! l had a hard time putting Double Take down. From the explosive beginning to the stunning end, the book is engrossing.
Lainie is still trying to recover from killing her ex in self-defense when he starts showing up in the oddest places. She wonders if she hallucinating or having some weird relapse in her recovery to suddenly be seeing him. Regardless, someone is trying to kill her, and he looks an awful lot like her ex.
James is hurt in the line of duty, landing him in the hospital and reconnecting with Lainie. Lainie always had a crush on James and had no idea he was back in town. When he realizes Lainie is in trouble, he makes it his mission to keep her safe.
I did not see the bad guy(s) coming. I can't tell you my exact thoughts without giving something away. This story takes dysfunctional families to another level. It is full of imperfect people living imperfect lives in a totally messed up world. I loved this book and again, can't wait for book two, Target Acquired, to be released.
★★★★★/5
