My Review:
As someone who is tired of being tired, when I saw Jess Connolly's book, Tired of Being Tired: Receive God's Realist Rest For Your Soul-Deep Exhaustion, I knew I had to read it.
We are soul-tired because we're coming against a culture of reactive defeat, one that assumes exhaustion is inevitable instead of fighting for rest. We idolize busyness over a sustainable pace and reward women for pushing through rather than blessing our God-given boundaries.
We need more books like this one. We are not meant to live life so far beyond exhaustion that we are hanging on by a thread. While this is a Christian book, the answers are not overtly Christian (life you need more Jesus). The answers are more like, you need better boundaries. You need to rest. You need to learn to say no.
Jess teaches us how to find our fatigue, and then gives us examples of how we can practice a "low power mode." She also lists things that help us to determine if our fatigue is mental, physical, emotional, or spiritual.
I highlighted and tabbed quite a bit of this book. I have been fatigued for quite a while and have been fighting to get rest and get my body back on track (with a doctor). This book is a balm to my weary soul and gives me hope beyond the exhaustion.
