Point of Danger

Title: Point of Danger

Series: Triple Threat #1

Author: Irene Hannon

Publisher: Revell

Genre: Suspense, Christian Fiction, Romance

My Review:

I love Irene Hannon's books. I have read quite a few of them and look forward to each one. I grabbed this one from my local library.

Point of Danger immediately grabs your attention from the opening scene. There is plenty of action and suspense to keep the story speeding along. I love Eve's relationship with her sisters and the care she has for those around her.

Somewhere in the middle of the story, I started to get bogged down. There seemed to be so many attacks against Eve and hard to determine where they are coming from. It also seemed like too many people were trying to silence her, and her job doesn't warrant that much hate, especially all at once. Then she starts pursuing Brent hard, even though they hadn't known each other long. It all started to seem a bit too unrealistic for me. I know it is fiction, but it was still a bit much. I was a bit disappointed and had a hard time connecting with the characters and the storyline.

I was surprised at the way that some things turned out. In the scheme of things, several things did not get completely resolved. Overall, the story does come to a decent conclusion, but I was left wondering about a few things. I look forward to reading the next book in the story, which is Eve's sister Cate's story.

★★★/5

Synopsis (from Goodreads):

Radio talk show host Eve Reilly is used to backlash from her pot-stirring on-air commentary and interviews, but now it seems a disgruntled listener is resorting to more than angry words to express their displeasure. When a suspicious package arrives on her doorstep, Eve turns to law enforcement for help.

Police detective Brent Lange can't find any evidence to link the string of unsettling incidents that follows, but he's convinced they're connected. As the harassment grows more menacing, it becomes clear someone wants Eve's voice silenced--permanently.

But unless he can track down her foe, fast, the gutsy woman who is willing to take risks for what she believes--and who is swiftly winning his heart--may not survive.

Bestselling author and three-time RITA Award winner Irene Hannon is back with a heart-stopping new series that will have you turning pages well into the night.

  1. I've read a few of Hannon's books and liked them, but I haven't read this one. Sorry it wasn't one of her best.

  2. I haven't read any of Hannon's books. I'm sorry this one disappointed you. Fiction still needs to be believable in the confines of the story.

    1. Kami, I usually LOVE her stories, 4 and 5 stars, but this series just didn't strike the right cord with me. I know they all can't be great, though. I have no doubt others have enjoyed this book (I've seen the reviews on Goodreads), so it could have been my mood too.

  3. I read a couple of Irene Hannon's books a while ago, and enjoyed them. But, it's been a while.

    1. Wendy, it had been a while for me too, at least for her suspense.

  4. It's been YEARS since I read a new suspense novel by Irene, but once upon a time I read all of her books and loved them. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on one of her newer ones. :)

    1. Yes, I have followed her for years too. I love all these "old" authors, but have enjoyed a lot of new ones this year too!
