Happy Tuesday my bookish friends!! I hope you all are doing well. Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is: Books with a High Page Count (Share those doorstop books!) I think "high" page count is subjective, so I am going to go with 400+ pages as those are books that count toward the "Big Book Challenge" and the limit of what some of my book club members will read for our meetings. So, let's see what I come up with today, I know I don't read as many chunkster books as I used to. I did not include anthologies or Bibles in my list. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and you can head over there to see what our other bookish friends are up to today.
Top Ten Tuesday-Chunkster books I have read and enjoyed

I have read other books, like Gone with the Wind that has 1,037 pages, but it's been so long, I don't know if I would enjoy it now. I also have anthologies, craft books, and others that are higher than the ones I shared. I did not link to reviews because some of these I read before I was writing reviews, and they only have my rating.
I absolutely love big books, so this was a nice challenge. I have only read North and South from your list. As you probably know in the meantime, I also love classics. A lot.
ReplyDeleteHere is my list:

Marianne, I need to read more big books, but I get in my own head about time and such.
DeleteYou need to read the books you enjoy, nothing else.
DeleteTrue.
DeleteDragonfly Ashes sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteLydia, I loved it.
DeleteI've read North and South! Can't say I enjoyed it though. Gone with the Wind is on my list this week, as I decided to set the mark at 1,000 pages lol. Here is my TTT: https://thissideofstoryland.blogspot.com/2025/08/top-ten-tuesday-books-over-1000-pages.html
ReplyDeleteKaris, wow, looking forward to seeing your list!
DeleteOh so many good ones! The Great Alone I really liked.
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle!
DeleteTiffany Girl WAS a chunkster! But a good one :)
ReplyDeleteCarrie, I agree!
DeleteAh, our book club will be reading The Great Alone this year. Good to see how much you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteDeb, I read it with my previous book club, everyone enjoyed it, I hope yours does as well.
DeleteI really enjoyed North and South, but it has been a while since I read it.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Poinsettia, glad to hear it :)
DeleteI haven't read any of these! Love the variety. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Lark!
DeleteI haven't read any of these, but several titles do feel familiar.

DeleteI like Kristin Hannah.

Regine, I do too. I haven't read her in forever.
DeleteKristin Hannah writes such big books, but they don't feel that way.

Laurie, so true!
DeleteI've read Kristin Hannah's The Women and The Four Winds and loved them! I really want to read The Great Alone and The Nightingale next.
ReplyDeleteHaze, I have so many of her books to catch up on!
DeleteI read some Deanne Gist books once upon a time and still think I own some, so I should have tried to find those! Oh, well! Maybe next time. :) Glad you enjoyed some of these even with the length. Thanks for visiting my list today!
ReplyDeleteRissi, I loved Deanne Gist's humor~
DeleteAwesome list!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bree!
DeleteI'm not a fan of big books so I haven't read any of these. They do look like good reads, though.
ReplyDeleteYvonne, I completely understand!
DeleteI tried to decide at what page count is a book a chunkster. I chose 600 or more pages and came up with 9 that I've read, but like you Cindy, some were read years ago. The only one on your list that I've read is The Great Alone. I don't read a lot of big books, they intimidate me.
ReplyDeleteCarla, I don't read as many as I used to. When I do, I have to commit to only a chapter a day until the book grabs me and I don't want to stop reading, and if it doesn't, then I will DNF it.
DeleteI watched North and South, but haven't read it yet. Pretty sure I read more than I put on my list as well, but couldn't recall them. Thanks for sharing and for visiting my blog, Cindy.
ReplyDeleteI have heard good things about North and South, but wanted to read it before watching the movie.
DeleteI also think that a long book is subjective. These are all new titles to me. I’m going to start putting the Bible on my list of long books. 😊
ReplyDeleteCarla, I did see someone else do that and I could do it too :)
DeleteThanks for the reminder of The Great Alone, I wanted to read that a while ago and have forgotten about it.

Rosie, glad you found something to remind you :) I hope you enjoy it when you read it.
DeleteOne of the booktubers I watch LOVES Francine Rivers!! I will have to look her up.
ReplyDeleteErin, her books are pretty amazing!
DeleteSame. These days, I consider anything 400+ pages to be a big book and I have less patience for them than I did when I was younger. I do enjoy most of Hannah's books and I loved THE GREAT ALONE. THE WOMEN is on my list today. It was interesting, but far FAR from my favorite Hannah book ;)
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Susan, yep, so many books, so little time, the chunkster has to be worth the commitment.
