Stacking the Shelves #192 Sunday Post #189 Sunday Salon #183

Hey my bookish friends! How was your week? Mine was long. I am still completely wiped out. We had 5 showings between M-W, which contributed to the longer week. However, our house DID go under contract, BUT they have to sell their house first. So, my praying friends, please pray their house sells and they continue with the contract on our house. I don't know that I will handle it well if it falls through a third time. I am SO thankful it is the weekend!! We are mostly catching up on projects at home. I feel like I should start packing, but will hold off until their house goes under contract. I have already missed things that got packed up this summer.

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your  shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. The Stacking the Shelves meme is hosted at Reading Reality.

Bought:

I preorder Jaime Jo Wright's book this past summer and it got lost in the mail, took a detour at our old house in NC and finally made it to me this week. Then, I splurged on Courtney Walsh's book that released this week. I sometimes treat myself when things are very hard.

Book Mail: Won in a giveaway!

Kindle FreebiesNone

Other updates:

I finished 5 books this week, three physical, one audio, and DNFd one. I finished one book last night, so the review will be up tomorrow.

Side note (not a political post!) we are praying for the government to come to a financial agreement and open back up. I don't know if anyone who reads my blog is affected by the shutdown (I hope not), but my husband works for the government and we are in the boat of working but not getting paid. We are doing alright, and hope that if you are affected, that you are as well. If you are a praying person, please pray for this to be resolved quickly. This is the longest they have ever been shutdown (previously 35 days).

My other blog if you are interested.

What you might have missed on the blog the last 2 weeks:

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Before the End

Book Review: Mistletoe and Malice by Lori DeJong

Book Review: While You Were Skiing by Megan Byrd

I am also linking up with the Sunday Post. The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. I will also be joining Deb at Readerbuzz for the Sunday Salon.

  1. Good luck with the government shut-down. It’s bad for everyone but obviously worse for those whose salaries are withheld. I’m afraid it will take more than prayers to help our emmiserated country and the many victims of the current regime.

    1. Mae, it will certainly take a lot of prayers. It is a mess and one that could have been avoided (same as each year previously).

  2. Praying for all the house logistics, friend. In this stressful waiting room, may you find peace, grace, and confidence that God has a plan for you.

I’m sorry you are being affected by the shutdown, I can’t ever imagine our government doing the same, its an insane proposition.

  6. Fingers crossed and praying hard they'll be able to sell their house so they can buy yours! And I'm so sorry you've gotten caught up in the shutdown. It's so frustrating and creating such a struggle for so many people. Hang in there!

  7. I stay away from the bookstore because I try to get books from NetGalley and the library. But browsing without buying is also a great way to spend some time.

    1. Harvee, Amazon is a little too convenient, LOL, no need to even walk in a bookstore (although I do, and I love to do it!).

  9. Moving house is always such a stressful time - and I'm so sorry that the government has shut down. How horrible! I'll be praying for BOTH issues to be resolved ASAP, Cindy.

    1. Anne, I will probably finish my first book tomorrow. I haven't made an attempt to read more nonfiction a day than I normally would.

  13. Ugh. You are in a rough situation. I do not understand the whole mess with the government. I am so sorry that your husband is not getting paid, and I hope that the contract will go through as the other parties' home quickly sells.

  15. It’s good to treat yourself sometimes! We took a special donation at church on November 2nd and were able to raise a significant amount of money for those impacted in our community by the shutdown. I’m glad to know that so many families will be able to get meals. Still Waters was so good! I still need to post that one on Instagram but it’s up on my blog.

  16. I will keep your house sale and theirs up in prayer. Those contingencies can make it tough. The Bell Tolls at Traeger Hall was another fabulous one. I look forward to reading your thoughts. Enjoy your week.

  17. Going through house sales stuff and a shutdown is hard - I wish you peace and strength as you work your way through it all. We are trying to sell my parents-in-law's house at the moment, on the second buyer now after the first fell through. It's to pay for their care home so it's a bit of a worry! I have acquired a lot of books via NetGalley this month, it seems. I do a round-up on the first of the next month so watch my blog for the horror that will have built up by then!!

    1. Liz, Good luck with the sale of your in-law's house. I hope all goes smoothly and it is more than enough to cover their care.

  18. I'm sick of the government (both sides...all sides...) playing their games with our lives. I hope your husband starts getting paid again SOON and I hope you sell your house SOON.
