Analyzing my 2025 Reading Goals and Stats

At the beginning of the year I listed my 2025 Bookish goals. I am very much a type A personality. When I set a goal I have every intention of getting it, and I feel this internal pressure to finish what I started. This year I started having to let things go, which isn't easy for me, but there was already so much stress, I didn't need it from my fun hobby.

Here are my 2025 Bookish Goals:

🕮 read 200 books ✔ 227

  • 48 that I own (physical and Kindle) (Mount TBR Challenge)✔ I finished 65
  • 36 from my virtual TBR (Virtual TBR Challenge)✔ I finished 63
  • 12 or more on Kindle Unlimited (because we pay for it, really should be 24, but my husband does read from it some)✔ I finished 23

🕮 Less than 36 ARCs (3 a month) X I finished 37ish

🕮 Read 3 classics (I don't have to finish them, but I need to attempt it-and this is reading outside my comfort zone) ✔ I finished 7 DNFd 1

🕮 Read more male authors (specific goal to try 5 new ones this year)  ✔ I finished 25 DNF 2-this is thanks to book club and review books

🕮 Work on completing series (no specific amount, I finished 15 last year) ✔ I finished 17 this year

🕮 Read monthly book club pick ✔ I attempted them, I know I DNFd several

🕮 Get rid of 47 books before my 47th birthday (July) ✔ I far surpassed this which was good since we moved two weeks ago

🕮 Read new-to-me authors (again, no specific amount, last year was 77, and I do have a list of ones that I wanted to try that carried over from last year) ✔ I finished 53

Here are where things are going to get interesting:
12/31/24 these are my Goodreads stats:

  2. Great goals and achievements, well done! You read almost as many as I did, which is comforting because I was feeling a bit weird about it. Happy reading and reviewing in 2026!

    1. Liz, No reason to feel weird about how much reading you can squeeze in, just count it all a blessing :) I am thankful for every moment I can find to read...and audiobooks help a lot!

  3. So many challenges! I'm impressed you can keep up with and track so many. I can barely manage my four. 😅

PS: I just realized I wasn't following you before, but I am now!

    1. Lindsi, I dropped several reading challenges this year, these were just my goals. I had to go back and see how I actually did, hopefully this year I will be able to keep it all straight, LOL! Thanks for following me :)

    2. It's so hard to keep up with everything! Especially when life gets busy. You've got this!

  4. I'm planning to try my first Courtney Walsh book next month! I think I read several books by both Elisabeth Wheatley and Shannon Messenger last year, but I don't tend to read a ton of books by a single author in a year.

    1. Karis, Some years I read a bunch of different authors, and some years I binge series, so then I am reading quite a few by the same authors. This year I plan to binge more series, but we'll see how it goes :)
