Happy Tuesday, my bookish friends!! I hope you all are doing well.
Today's
Top Ten Tuesday
topic is Books
Set In a Place I’d Love to Visit (real places or fictional).
This is not how I think of books and I don't really have a list of places I'd love to visit, so I am tweaking today's topic. I am participating in The 2022 Literary Escapes Challenge Challenge hosted by Lori over at Escape with Dollycas Into A Good Book. So, for today's topic, I will be sharing 10 books and the state they are set in that I am still planning to read for this challenge. Top Ten
Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and you can head over there to see what our other bookish friends are up to today.
10 Books I need to read for the Literary Escapes Challenge:
|
West Virginia
|
|
Massachusetts |
|
Alabama |
|
Illinois |
|
Mississippi |
|
Vermont |
|
Utah |
|
Washington |
|
Nebraska |
|
Colorado |
As an extra bonus I own most of these books and they will be fulfilling other challenges I am participating in as well. I need to read 27 books to fulfill this challenge, I am about half-way there. What
did you do for this week? I would love for you to share in the comments. To see
what other topics our bookish friends are doing this week click on the

I hope you enjoy all of these books!

Thanks Lydia!
DeleteHi there, I need to update my 50 states challenge. I've been focusing more on traveling the world in books lately so I'm just tracking the US states when I have one. I'm drawn to nebraska, vermont and washington from your list! Happy reading. Stopping by from top ten tuesday.
ReplyDeleteTanya, thanks for stopping by! I did not try to track any of the countries, just trying to keep up with the states. Glad to hear you found some from my list to try :)
DeleteI see I'm not the only one who took a twist with this subject. Well done, Cindy.
ReplyDeleteMy TTT this week.
Thanks Marianne!
DeleteI have ten states (I just checked) left to visit, and two of mine are the same as yours---Colorado and Illinois.
ReplyDeleteDeb, that's awesome!!
DeleteGood luck with your list! Several of these look really good.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you!
Thanks Aymee!
DeleteWonderful idea, Cindy! I ADORE Becky Ward's series about the 3 WA state sisters. (I totally wanted to be in that family!) And Carrie Stuart Parks' and the Emma fanfic books were wonderful (tho in very different ways).
ReplyDeleteI have been wanting to read Becky Wade for a while and can't wait to get to it!
DeleteI haven't really tracked my reading by state much but when I see bloggers do it looks fun! I should put together a list or whatever. It is fun to see how states are represented- and I often learn a lot as well!
ReplyDeleteGreg, I am doing it this year but don't think I will do the challenge next year. I am finding it all a lot to keep up with, but I am not a quitter, so I can't just quit it, LOL!
DeleteSounds like a fun project. I'd like to read a book set in each state, too, as long as the setting is well described. My TTT list of places I don't want to visit
ReplyDeleteAnne, it is a fun challenge for sure! I loved your tweak on this week's topic!
DeleteI hope that you enjoy each of these when you get the chance!

Thanks Pam!
DeleteI hope you enjoy all of these books!

Thanks! I really enjoyed your Gilmore list!!
DeleteThis is a perfect twist for this week's top ten, Cindy. I have not read any of these books but several appeal to me. I just read, Bless Your Heart, Rae Sutton set in Alabama. I don't think I read a lot of books set there. Nebraska is also a tough one, so will check out the book you highlighted here.
ReplyDeleteCarla, that is one I want to read, but didn't know it was set in Alabama! I don't think I have read many books set there either.
DeleteFun that you own so many of these and that they're all set in different states. I'm partial to Something Wilder myself; it's a fun read, and plus, I'm from Utah. :)
ReplyDeleteLark, I think it would be so fun to visit Utah, I have never met anyone from there before!
DeleteNice list and what a fun challenge. I need to track where my books are set so I can do a list like this.
ReplyDeleteWendy, LOL, I said the EXACT same thing to Deb, except about countries!!
DeleteI love the variety of books you have here. Sounds like a fun challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzanne!
DeleteI hope that you get the chance to read these books soon! I've never tracked my books by location of setting before but I like the idea of it -- I might need to try it sometime because now I'm curious at what the distribution of stories will be.
ReplyDeleteclaire @ clairefy
Claire, I think I am going to start!!!
DeleteNice way to tweak this topic. I would love to visit West Virginia and Colorado. I'll have to look up the Winds of Change series. It sounds great.
ReplyDeleteThis week has been work, work, work. Hopefully some down time this weekend. Thanks for stopping by my blog today.
Thanks Cheryl. We have been through West Virginia multiple times, but have not visited there. I think Colorado would be beautiful!
DeleteI'm really behind on The Literary Escapes Challenge. Eek! It seems like all the books I've been reading are set in the SAME few states. I need to get going on the more obscure ones, like West Virginia and Mississippi. Good luck on finishing the challenge.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
Susan, I planned mine out at the beginning of the year, some have changed, but it has helped with focus. Good luck!
DeleteSmart! I made a spreadsheet a few months ago to guide my reading, but I haven't really stuck to it. It's time to focus, methinks, or I'm never going to finish the challenge. LOL.
DeleteSusan, yes! I feel the same, I am trying, but then I get distracted by ARCs!! Good luck!
DeleteEnjoy them and good luck with the challenge.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarita!
DeleteI was sure I commented here yesterday but I can't find my entry. I even got updates. The internet is really weird at the moment.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I love how you do States. For me, getting anywhere in the US would be a first but I'm sure I can come up with quite a few that I read about.
Thanks for visiting my TTT this week.
Sorry, Marianne, it sent both of your comments to spam (no idea why), but I have fixed it!
DeleteThey look like good books. And what fun to read about the different states!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Emily @ Budget Tales Book Blog
Thanks Emily!
DeleteNext time there's some sort of travel prompt, I need to go this direction. SO fun. I'm sure I have lots I want to read yet set in specific states and the like. Really enjoyed both Katherine's and Becky's on your list. Good reads for different reasons. Thanks for visiting my list on this week. Appreciate that.
ReplyDeleteRissi, I am excited about keeping up with it further. I just wish I had started sooner ;)
DeleteA Cry from the Dust sounds really interesting and intriguing. As a member of the LDS church, I'd be interested to see how the author portrays Joseph Smith, the LDS faith, and the offshoots in her book. (I'm not one to say that our faith doesn't have its issues like many of its members.) Thanks for putting it on my radar.
ReplyDeleteJenni, I think anyone who says their faith doesn't have issues is deceiving themselves, none of us are perfect, and neither is "faith" or the word "christian" wouldn't have such a negative connotation. I love Carrie Stuart Parks books and I have no doubt this one will be good! I hope you get a chance to read it.
