Stacking the Shelves #88, Sunday Post #85, Sunday Salon #79

Hey bookish friends! How are you all doing? Any plans for the weekend? I have a headache which is making it hard to want to do anything, LOL! I spent the morning reviewing my book goals for the remainder of the year. I am sending back library books that don't meet those goals, and trying to keep my focus, LOL!!

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. The Stacking the Shelves meme is hosted at Reading Reality.

NetGalley: None

Library: None-we are breaking up 😂! I will only be checking out books over the next few months if I need them to complete a book challenge or goal that I set at the beginning of the year.

Kindle Freebies: None

Book Mail: All for review

Bought: None

Other updates:

I finished 6 books this week. One was an audio book that I had been listening to for a bit. I still need to write the review for one of them.

What you might have missed on the blog:

Book Review: The Cake List

Book Review: I Walked with Jesus

Top Ten Tuesday-Fall TBR 2023 1.5

Book Review: He Should Have Told the Bees

Book Review: An Elegant Facade

First Line Friday #105-Dark of Night

I am also linking up with the Sunday Post. The Sunday Post is a blog news meme hosted at Caffeinated Reviewer. I will also be joining Deb at Readerbuzz for the Sunday Salon.

What books have you added to your physical or virtual bookshelves? I would love to hear from you. Click on the icons below to join in on the fun. Have a great weekend!

  1. Staying strong with your no library books plan, I see. Good luck with that. ;D And my big weekend plans include cleaning my house today because it's our monthly family game night tomorrow and everyone's coming over in the afternoon for dinner and game playing. We have a lot of fun. Hope you enjoy your weekend.

    1. Lark, it was a HARD decision. But, I looked at what I wanted to read, and what I had already committed to read, and I knew it had to be done!! I LOVE that you have a monthly game night, that is AWESOME! My husband I used to have friends we did that with, but it's been several moves, and many years since we've been able to find anyone to start that up with again. Have a great weekend!

  2. I go to the library more often now that I have no more books in the basement. They were all given away to make room for an office! But I confess I get ARCs from NetGalley which keep me busy.

    1. Harvee, yes, I love my ARCs!! But, I have to find the right balance. I had SO many books from the library, and I was feeling guilty keeping them out so long and not reading them. We'll see how long I last, LOL! I need to just check out less and not get more until I have completed the ones I have. Have a great weekend!

  3. Other than audiobooks, I don't use the library that much. Honestly, I should try to change that. It would free up space in my condo.

    1. Mark, it would if you have a good library system! I love ours but need to focus on my own books for a bit. I guess I should have clarified because I will still be getting audiobooks from the library, I just never think to include them here.

  5. I love the idea of re-evaluating my goals, and sending back books that don't meet those goals. I've finished most of my challenges, and now I'd like to re-think them. Thanks for the inspiration, Cindy.

    1. Thanks Deb. I wish I had done it last year and maybe I would have finished my literary escapes challenge from last year before August of this year, LOL!!!

  6. Wow so no Netgalley and no library Cindy?🤦‍♀️ I guess you could always read the thousands of books you own right? Good luck my friend!📚💜

    1. Susan, thank God it is not thousands I own, but hundreds 😬 . Counting ARCs I have 26 books I need to finish before the end of the year. If I continue to check out library books it will not happen, so we are on a break (cue Friends reference 😂) .

  7. LOL at this: Library: None-we are breaking up!

I just got done making myself a reading plan for this last week of September and for October because there are so many bookish events going on and I have my own books plotted out for that but then three pesky holds came in from the library and none of them have anything to do with any of the bookish events so how am I to fit in a 600 page book on Catherine The Great plus memoirs of two random people?

    1. Jinjer, yes!! Counting ARCs I have 26 books I need to finish before the end of the year. If I continue to check out library books it will not happen, so we are on a break (cue Friends reference 😂) . I want to finish my reading goals for the year, and I should make NO reading goals for next year so I can read whatever I want, whenever I want, LOL! That is what I was supposed to do this year=epic fail.

  8. Hope you are feeling better! I don't think I've been to my library all summer! My reading has been down though...

Hope your weekend is going well!

    1. Greg, my reading was done for May-July and started picking back up in August. I am feeling better, thanks! I usually go to the library at least once a week, more if books that I reserved have come in.

  9. I am not very good with book goals and I am so impressed with people that set them and complete them! On Moonberry Lake looks like a good read!

    1. Erin, I think I would prefer not to have those goals hanging over my head! I said I wouldn't do reading challenges this year, and then I did, and here I am stressing about finishing my goals, LOL! But, I do need to read more of the books on my shelves too.

  10. It’s interesting that you are breaking up with your library as I’m using mine more and more! I hope that your headache is gone. Have a great week.

    1. Jodie, I LOVE the library system here. The only reason I am breaking up is because counting ARCs I have 26 books I need to finish before the end of the year. If I continue to check out library books it will not happen, so we are on a break (cue Friends reference 😂) .

  11. Hope you are feeling better and so sad for your break up with the library :) I get it, I've been on a break from the library for a while. Although I do get audiobooks from the Libby App for my commute. Hope you have a great week!

    1. Iliana, I am feeling better, thank you! I will also still continue to get audio books from the library. I listen to them when I am driving, sewing, walking, doing laundry etc. I hope you have a great week as well, thanks for stopping by!

  12. I put myself on a library budget. Until I catch up with my ARCs, I'm not going to borrow anymore. But...it's just so tempting :) Hope you have a great week!

    1. Yvonne, I love it, smart idea!! I agree, it is SO tempting, especially when I see they have the new releases I have been waiting for to release...but, I was strong and cancelled my holds!! They will be there when I get caught up!

  13. I go into my library more for the free classes ( we had an art class this past week) than for books, but I am big on getting audiobooks from my library. I have three books I'm currently listening to--

    1. Victoria, I can only listen to one audio book, otherwise I will mix them up! I do and will continue to read books from Hoopla, I should have been clear that it was more about the physical books! Thanks for stopping by!
