Happy Tuesday my bookish friends!! I hope you all are doing well. Today's Top Ten Tuesday topic is: Freebie! I wasn't sure if I would be able to come up with a topic, but then I decided to talk about one of my reading goals for the year. So, I plan to read at least 50 of my owned books this year. As a secondary goal, I wanted to get my unread fiction books under 100. Well, with the few pre-orders I ordered this year (I think close to 10 total), and having won a few books...it has made the goal a little harder. So, in addition to reading from my own shelves, I am trying to read the pre-orders then they come in as well. (Spoiler alert, I am behind, LOL). So, here are 10 books that are top priority to be read before the end of the year. Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl and you can head over there to see what our other bookish friends are up to today.
Top Ten Tuesday-2026 Top priority books to read
The Sassy Belles by Beth Albright-we won't talk about how many times I have shared this one, LOL, but this is the year, I feel it in my bones, LOL! His Promise by Shelley Shepard Gray has been on my TBR forever too, but for some reason it just doesn't appeal to me.
They Almost Always come Home by Cynthia Ruchti and The Sowing Season by Katie Powner (I have shared this one quite a bit too, shh!)
Fall Out by Carrie Stuart Parks and Targeted by Lynette Eason (another one I have shared several times...are you sensing a pattern?!)
Frankly, My Dear Clara by Kristi Ann Hunter and Love in the Stacks by Julie Milo
The Bell Tolls at Traeger Hall by Jaime Jo Wright and Not What We Pictured by Becca Kinzer
The good news is that we are not quite halfway through the year, so I have time to read these and the other books I need for this this goal! I also haven't been to the library for fiction books in over a month (so I will focus on my own). What is a book you are hoping to read before the end of the year? What topic did you go with this week? I would love for you to share in the comments. I would NOT guess romance from Targeted's cover!
ReplyDeleteStephen, right?! But, they are great at romantic suspense.
DeleteHow are things going for you? I keep you in my prayers as I know this has been a rough season for you. Here is a good link to my list: https://headfullofbooks.blogspot.com/2026/04/ttt-what-i-was-reading-freebie.html
ReplyDeleteHi Anne, I am doing ok. I appreciate the prayers. Have a good week :)
DeleteGood luck with your goal! I also need to focus on the books I already own and yet, my local secondhand bookstore keeps calling my name... My topic today was showing off a rainbow of covers of my 5-star reads!
ReplyDeleteNikki, LOL, I totally get it.
DeleteHope you enjoy these!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bree!
DeleteI hope you enjoy all of the books on your priority list! Especially when they are anticipated. :) Happy reading and enjoy the rest of your 2026 reading. Thanks for visiting my list today.
ReplyDeleteRissi, thank you!
DeleteI'm hoping to read 26 owned books this year, I'm currently at eight. Sadly, a few of them were DNF, but they got removed from the shelf all the same. I have added a few as well this year, but not too many. I've tried to cut back on requesting ARCs to focus on other books and so this year has been pretty good.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT for the week: https://readbakecreate.com/the-xs-ys-and-zs-have-it-ten-titles-starting-with-x-y-or-z/
Pam, I have DNF'd two from my shelves as well so far, but yes, I was glad to be able to get them off my shelves. I think I have finished 11 of my owned book, so that's 13 so far. We can do it! I also have cut way back on ARCs and trips to the library.
DeleteGreat list of books. They all look so good. Enjoy and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThanks Yvonne!
DeleteAll of these look so fun. I can feel my own TBR list growing. ;D
ReplyDeleteLark, LOL, you're welcome, LOL!
DeleteGood for you for tackling books you already own! I need to do that, too.
ReplyDeleteThank you for visiting Long and Short Review’s post earlier.
Astilbe, I think we all do, LOL! However, this year, it feels more like a strong compelling force, so I am listening to it, LOL!
DeleteLove in the Stacks looks really adorable. I will have to check that book out. I am SO excited to read Becca Kinzer's newest novel. I adore her books. I did just get this book. It's definitely going to be a very-soon up-next read. Great list, Cindy! I hope you love all these books.
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicole.
DeleteGood luck with your goal!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your #TTT
Thanks Shelleyrae, any progress is better than no progress.
DeleteThat's a great idea. For me, that might be impossible, my list always changes while I'm reading a book. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my post:

Marianne, I understand that completely! I am SUCH a mood reader and once I put it on a list, it seems like I no longer want to read it, LOL!
DeleteI take part in several book clubs and challenges, there is always another read I "have to" do. LOL
DeleteYeah, I can understand that as well!
DeleteJust ordered the next book for my local book club. LOL
DeleteMarianne, do you have to buy them all? Or are you able to get some from the library?
DeleteWell, I live in Germany. The books they have are all in German, so if I want to read books in the original language (which I do), I have to buy the foreign ones. And even for the German ones, the choice is more or less the "easy reading" for the "average" reader, hardly any classics or books like that. So, the choice for me is quite small.
DeleteMarianne, I had forgotten about that! When we lived overseas we had to buy all the books we wanted to read as well. It adds up.
DeleteI know what you mean. I'd be alright if I would only read what the library has to offer. And in German. But I've been around too much to find pleasure in that.
DeleteThat Jamie Jo Wright book looks creepy and so good!
ReplyDeleteErin, I actually finished it last night, it was SO creepy!
DeleteThere are so many great books on your list! I hope you enjoy them all! I really liked Targeted. :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashley! I REALLY need to get to that one.
DeleteYou are wise to make a list of the books you really want to read this year. Good luck, Cindy!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deb! Having focus means I am more likely to get some of them read, anyway, LOL!
DeleteGreat list idea! I hope you meet your goals.
ReplyDeleteThanks Olivia!
DeleteGreat idea. I hope you reach your goal. Thank you for coming to visit my TTT.
ReplyDeleteThanks Danyelle!
DeleteI also want to read that Becca Kinzer book. I've only read one of hers, but really enjoyed it. I have a goal to read 24 books I own off my physical shelf this year and am doing well. I've read 9 so far, so 15 more to go in 8 months. Good luck to you with this goal.
ReplyDeleteOh, wow, Carla, you are doing great!!! I am sure you can get that goal. I hope we both love Becca's book!
DeleteGood luck with your goal Cindy! I like planning out the books I want to read ahead of time so as not to miss any must-reads!
ReplyDeleteJodie, I do as well, although it doesn't mean I also get to them, LOL!
