Hey, my bookish friends!! How are you all doing? I am doing okay. Last Saturday our dryer went out and my MIL had a medical emergency and we almost lost her. It was a rough start to the week, but she is now home, doing better, our dryer is fixed, and my FIL finished his radiation treatments on Friday. I am feeling so incredibly thankful. Today, my husband and I are at an event called The Fest, we are only there for the concerts, we are not really festival people, LOL. My favorite band is on at 6PM and I am hoping the rain that we are supposed to get holds off. What are your plans for the weekend? Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! And audiobooks. The Stacking the Shelves meme is hosted at Reading Reality.
Library Treasures:
Bought: None- but tempted, LOL!
Book Mail: None
Kindle Freebies: None
Other updates:
I finished five books this week. Two were heavier than expected, with one of those not worth blogging about. My current audiobook (The Way it Should Be by Christina Suzann Nelson) is heavier as well (foster care/abuse), not sure how I did that with so many different books this week. Funnily enough Birds on a Wire sounds a bit heavier as well (another foster care book). Do you ever find yourself unintentionally picking up books that have the same themes? The last time I did that it was the amnesia trope, lol.
What you might have missed on the blog this week:
Book Review: Her Runaway Vacay by Jen Atkinson
TTT: On This Day
Book Review: The Good Nearby by Nancy Moser
Book Review: Honeysuckle Breeze by B.R. Goodwin
Book Review: Stealing Magnolias by Leslie Kirby DeVooght
What books have you added to your physical or virtual bookshelves? I would love to hear from you. Click on the icons below to join in on the fun. Have a great weekend!
We have lots of fests around us today too, but I don't want to walk in the humid hot air, so we may not go. Too sad that the summer has been so drastic weatherwise here.
ReplyDeleteHarvee, We went, had the threat of rain, but thankfully it held off. It was in the low 80s, so hot, but manageable. We are glad we went, we had a great time.
DeleteCindy, it sounds like an intense week. I'm happy to hear your mother-in-law is doing better (and the dryer too). Wishing you a smooth weekend.

We have had a lot of intense lately, and I am ready for slow and boring, LOL! Thanks for stopping by!
DeleteWhat a crazy week for you! I'm glad your MIL is doing okay. And that you got your dryer fixed. And I really hope that this next week is a much quieter, less eventful one.
ReplyDeleteThanks Lark, me too!
DeleteOh goodness, I'm glad your MIL is doing better. I hope you can catch a break and have a peaceful couple of weeks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Nicky!
DeleteSo sorry you had such a tumultuous week, Cindy. Glad things are starting to settle down. I am always surprised when I end up reading books that have similar themes. I wonder if I do that intentionally!
ReplyDeleteDeb, right?! It was unexpected.
DeleteYikes! I'm glad your MIL is still with us and doing better! Also glad your dryer is fixed and that you got to go to the Fest.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jinjer!
DeleteI often find myself reading according to themes, often ending up feeling a bit overwhelmed by them, too. Usually unintentional. It's weird.

Anne, right?! I wonder if it moods that draw us to those books.
DeleteWe had a mini music fest here in Pogradec over the weekend. I’m not a fan of the crowds, but I can understand the appeal. I hope you had an excellent time.
ReplyDeleteI’m so sorry about the alarming start to your week. That had to be so scary. So glad your MIL is recovering and your FIL radiation treatments are at an end.
Olivia, we are not fans of crowds either, and it wasn't so bad. We took lawn chairs, and that gives you space from people because no one else sets up too close to you.
DeleteOMG I'm sorry about the week you had - I am so glad your mother in law in on the mend... How scary is that?! Here's hoping things are better and less hectic for you next week... https://sarahsbooksolace.bookblog.io/2026/08/16/sunday-post-3-gearing-up-for-the-fair/
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah!
DeleteI hope that the rain stays away for the concert and that everyone remains as healthy as possible Cindy. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteJodie, the rain did stay away, it was great!
DeleteI hope this coming week is a better one for you and your family! Praise the Lord for physical healing and working appliances!
ReplyDeleteAfter church today, my husband and I went to a pop-up book trailer that just opened and I bought the first book in the Graceling Realm series. Oddly enough, I owned #3 and #5 but not 1, 2, or 4. Now I own 1, 3, and 5!
Karis, that sounds like a lot of fun! Isn't it funny when we own series, but not the first book, LOL?!

DeleteI'm glad everything has improved. I hope your upcoming week is blissfully uneventful. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Meezan, me too!
