About the Gala

The Christy Award Gala will be held on Thursday, November 14 at 7 pm central in Downers Grove, Illinois, at the DoubleTree Conference Center, just outside Chicago. Winners from each category, plus the Christy Book of the Year and Amplify Award, will be announced during the celebration.

I am not doing that topic, mainly because my memory stinks and I can't remember any. So, I looked at past topics and decided to do "Books I loved that have less than 2000 ratings on Goodreads." But, when I looked at my favorites in Goodreads, I realized that could be most of my books 😢 so decided to narrow it down to those with less than 200, and books that have been out at least a year. It took me a hot minute to remind myself of the characters from Roots of Wood and Stone, but that didn't stop my enjoyment of this book.

Happy June, my bookish friends!!! I can't believe the year is half over! How was your reading this month? I had a lower reading month than usual, but most of what I read was good.

Hey bookish friends! How are things going for you? This morning I will be baby-sitting and then this afternoon I will be shopping with my daughter. Tomorrow morning is church and I plan to spend the afternoon/evening reading, blogging, and chilling with my family.

Typically they are books that have not been released yet. This week I am sharing The Songs that Could Have Been by Amanda Wen. It is the second book in the Sedgwick County Chronicles series. I recently read the first book and LOVED it so I can't wait to get my hands on this one!! It is set to be released May 24, 2022.

I have bought quite a few books recently, and got bookish merch for Christmas, so honestly, I am not feeling this topic at all. I think today I would rather share my "top" books of 2022 (so far). My Review:

Roots of Wood and Stone is a fabulous debut author by Amanda Wen. It is exceptionally well-written. There is nothing about this novel that screams "debut."
