August Reading Wrap Up 2026

August was a blur. It was busy and I can't quite remember most of what I did, LOL. I did a lot of walking, so I finished more audiobooks than I normally would. I feel like I got a lot of reading in this month. So, lets see what I actually did. I finished 24 books, and I had one DNF and one 2-star read. Overall, I was disappointed in quite a few books that I read, which doesn't normally happen. Hey, my bookish friends!!  How are you all doing? I am doing okay. It was another long week with multiple appointments. Wednesday morning I had an appointment with the neurologist to discuss the results of my table tilt test. Despite me calling Tuesday and being told she had my results, she did not, which wasted 3 hours of mine and my husband's day. She said she would message me as soon as the results came in, but didn't. My results were there Wednesday afternoon and I am
still anxiously awaiting her to interrupt them for me. This Sunday is my birthday, so my daughter is here for the day. We are planning some family games and just hanging out, ordering dinner in. My boss gave me cash for my birthday and I spent a little time at Bath and Body Works yesterday, splurging! I will post a picture below of the candle I bought. If the weather cooperates (and the smoke from Canada clears) we will be out walking/hiking today and tomorrow morning.

Hey, my bookish friends!!  How are you all doing? I am doing okay. It was a long week with multiple appointments. I came out of my first appointment (Monday morning, before work), feeling fat and stupid. Wednesday was an eye appointment, hoping to get answers for some of my vision problems I have been having (light sensitivity and stuff), but no answers. However, everything looked great, and I am thankful for that.

Rendezvous update 2

So, part two of the JustRead Rendezvous 2024 reader event. You can read part one here. After lunch was another reader panel. Kimberley Woodhouse was the moderator of this one. Each author had to pick one of their characters to be and only answer as that character. It was hilarious. Several authors on the panel were suspense writers, and a couple were fantasy. Sara Ella was one of the authors and I loved her answers. She was in character as Alice in Wonderland from her book The Wonderland Trials. While I had read several authors books who were on the different panels throughout the day, hearing all the authors talk and interact made me want to read their books, even though several are genres I don't read. 

 

February 2024 Reading Wrap-Up

Nicole Deese has written another beautiful novel, The Words We Lost. She has quickly become an author I will automatically read when I see her name. Her books are deep, gritty, and carefully crafted. While this novel deals with grief, it is not as heavy of a read as anticipated. I actually put off reading this novel because of that.

Before I Called You Mine took me on an emotional roller coaster.
